Start the computer hit f10 which will take you to the utility partition there you will be able to do a full system recovery. If you look carefully you will also see the option to recover data to a cd.

You can re-format the drive and re-install windows XP with a Windows CD. Put the disk in the CD drive, reboot your computer and if you "press any key" the computer will boot off the Windows CD. If you install windows XP and go to www.microsoft.com and do the windows updates you should be fine.
