KV-34XBR800 Reset everything in service menu

I reset everything in my service menu the the default and now the TV is all out of whack. The picture is too big for the screen and so fourth. I have a service manual, what other tools do I need besides the degauzzing tool, and the color bar generator?

Well the problem is that now my adjustment settings are back to factory default. So now I need someone to either post or email me their settings so that I can put it back together, I stupidly didn't write down the settings.

Hmmm... well its it possible to find an adjustment settings table to re-input, I stupidly didn't write the old ones down before defaulting everything. Its a nice TV but I am calling around to see if someone wants to get a start on it. One place said that they wil do it starting at $400 because of the amount of time, another guy said that if I give him a copy of the manual he'll do it starting at $120. I don't know, I might just purchase something new, I am in the market I just don't like throwing out things that work.

Yes I know, I have through it, and some of the TVs settings are missing like the ability to change the aspect ratio, and the drc settings are 1 and 25. I have someone coming on tuesday to re-adjust the picture settings. Hmm imagine if the EEPROM happens to burn or break, then the whole tv would be garbage. According to people I talked to all the tvs are adjusted at the factory and everyone of them is different even though they are the same model. So for a company that makes 20+ million tvs a year they must have some elves that adjust all these things.

I seem to have got everything back to normal using the service manual settings. I just need a couple of things, I would like to see if someone can provide unalterred ID0-7 settings. Currently mine are:

    ID0 89
    ID1 255
    ID2 111
    ID3 107
    ID4 203
    ID5 179
    ID6 126
    ID7 24

The television is model KV-34XBR800. I am getting something wrong because I am missing a couple of things in the menu like widemode video adjustments, and picture vertical positioning. As well I still cannot get the widezoom button to respond. The televison is set to full in the service menu, but for some reason the channels look as if widezoom was being used.

Thank you very much for the help. I was able to get the proper IDs from a fellow in Brazil in exchange. So now all the original functions hvae been restored on the tv. Zoom works, and all the menus are back to their original values. Thanks for the help. Tech coming tuesday to fine tune tv.

Webterra, I have the exact same problem that you had (forgot to write down settings, change some and screwed up). Could you send me these settings you received ??

In the service menu or customer menus? On a Sony I wouldn't use a standard degausing coil as you will do damage to the CRT. Sony requires the use of a low power wand degauser.

The service manuals for Sony usually have defaults that will work listed.

Picture bowing in center from top down about 1 inch in middle, ok at edges, also looks as if degause is inoperative with colors on left and right (purity) --------------------------------__________________...

This is a convergence problem. Look for poor connections at the convergence ICs. Try resoldering the pins on the ICs. If that does not resolve the problem, replace the ICs.

Forward voltage/current problem....needs a new board....You might try unplugging it for a few hours...If the TV starts you will need to leave it on until it gets repaired or replaced.

Correct overscan on kv-34xbr800

With TV off, enter the following on your remote:
Display > 5 > Volume + > Power now you are in service mode 2 & 5 will take you up and down categories 1 & 4 will take you up and down settings within categories 3 & 6 will change the data up or down
So press 2 until you come to the 2170D_2 category Press 1 until you get to HSIZ and change the data down to the required setting (different data registers for different width settings)
It could be more involved but this might do the trick in your case. Good luck!
