Whirlpool GBD307PDS Electric Double Oven

The display on my oven is not working, however it does beep and the oven light still works. This same problem happened last week and in the middle of the night the oven beeped four times and the display came back on saying END timer. The oven worked fine after that until yesterday when it beeded four times and the display disappeared.
Thanks, Renee

My Mom's 4-yr. old oven did the same thing and then totally stopped working...she called a repair man. He said these are notorious for going out because the computerized controls get too hot. Estimated charge for repair...$450.00!!! She's a senior on a fixed income. We thought getting her into a new home would alleviate these repair costs.

Same exact thing just happened to my oven, which is 2 years old. We heard several beeps, then the display went black. Tried the troubleshooting tips in the manual to no avail. Oven still beeps when buttons are pushed, and oven light works. Also checked braker, but it's fine.

Same thing happened to our oven yesterday. It wasn't being used, it beeped a few times, the display was out, the buttons still beep, the lights still work, but no display and it doesn't heat up anymore. Also, it will randomly do more sets of beeps.

Have the exact same problem. Beeper is annoying and we can't get repair guy out to look at it until Monday (4 days from now)... I did look behind the control panel but it is to tightly wired to easily reach behind the panel to check plugs etc... It will almost assuredly be the control panel which will have a huge price tag attached to it I am sure.... RECALL IS THE SOLUTION !!!!

We have had it happen twice. Three years ago when it was three years old and this weekend. The first time was Thansgiving and now Christmas. Last time it cost $250 and now they say $650. Our neighbors moved into their house the same year (new subdivision) and their same model went out two weeks ago. I thought this company wmade good products. My parents oven lasted 30 years. This is ********.

Same problem, oven light works other than that no display. Checked circuit breaker everything is OK there...when I press start I get 2 longer beeps and 3 quick beeps.

The oven switches on in the middle of the night by itself

I fixed my problem by disconnecting the control board, cleaning all the contact points (including the ribbon cable) with alcohol and reconnecting everything as tight as possible.
I did notice that one of the contacts had become very corroded, so I scrubbed this one for a while. Prior to this I had done some selective unplugging and replugging (ribbon cable in particular) to no avail (each of these attempts powered on to beeping and no display).
Not a fancy solution, but it did work!

My solution only worked for about 20 hours. The day after I "fixed" it, it did the familiar short-long-short-short-short beeping and went back to display not working and buttons beeping but not working.

I forgot to mention: I called today and unfortunately there is no recall for THIS model (GBD307PDS).

  • brenttum Feb 08, 2008

I ultimately replaced the control board to get it working again.

Ditto. I see there was a recall on some similar ovens manufactured in 2004. Maybe a recall is in order for this model.

Hello Diana,
Their are a few things that should be checked. I know its going to be tough to check on a built in double wall oven but one thing that needs to be checked is if their is 240 volts ac entering the oven(i know the breaker is ok) but the connection at the back of the oven can burn, then the proper voltage wont enter the oven.
Another thing is a high limit thermostat thats inside of the control panel, need to checkif it has blown.
Last thing i can think to check is if 120 volts is at the clock, if not 120vac that explains the blank display

Try removing the ribbon connector and cleaning the end that plugs into the microcomputer. You can rub it lightly with an eraser or use electrical contact cleaner on it.

Whirlpool Gold double oven - started beeping then all lights on the control panel went out. Reset the circuit breaker which makes the oven beep but still have no lights. Oven will not operate.

I was just looking over a manual for a late model double oven. Their is a thermal limit going into the controls that will open if the temp rises enough to harm the controls. They look like this one.2605a73.jpg That kills all power to the control and you will see nothing on the display.

This manual will give an idea where to look:

Hi--my whirlpool double oven, model gbd277pds10 all of a sudden has a blank panel ,nothing works ,when you touch a command it just beeps, can anyone help me, please..

Hello,
Getting beeps when you push the keypad buttons means that power is getting to the control board. First, try shutting off the breaker to power down the oven for a few minutes, then turn back on. This will force a system reset, hopefully the oven will recover.

If not, you probably have a problem in the control board. If this is the case we may be able to save you some money if you can get the board pulled. We repair oven controllers at www.fixyourboard.com

Whirlpool GBD307PDS Double oven stopped working.

The beeping sound is a fault code. Problem is it isn't listed. In either the top or bottom oven panel there should be a service sheet. The codes are located on this service sheet.
