The camera is defective, probably something wrong with the lens mechanism and it needs to be repaired by the manufacture or a local camera repair shop.
It sounds like a problem with the focus system. Could be sand or something - happens quite often with these lens as the focus gears are very small. So the lens have to be cleaned / repaired - it's a hardware problem, so you should contact your local Olympus service center or other local camera repair shop. If they ask too much, I can offer you the repair for a very good price. You can contact me at [email protected]
Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced or replaced.
you should have dropped your cam down to the floor or you should have forcibly tried to put your lens inside when the servomotor lens tried to bring the lens out..take your camera to the nearest service centre..you should not try to open the cam since the parts used in it are very small and even a slight modification might be responsible for huge change in the calibration.so my best advice is to take it to the nearest service centre available..
My Camera: Canon PowerShot SD770 IS Digital Camera
Went to the beach yesterday, by the end of the night my camera gave me this error: "lens error, restart camera". The lens would no longer come out.
I figured sand got stuck within the lens, so I did the following:
1. Turn camera up-side-down (with lens facing down) 2. Gently tap the sides of the camera (to loosen particles in lens) 3. Turn camera on 4. The lens will eventually come out 5. Gently tap the sides of the lens 6. Turn camera off (continue tapping side of lens as it retracts)
I turned the camera on and off a couple of times to ensure I removed all sand particles from the camera.
Both of you guys are having "Lens Errors". That means that your lens have sustained some sort of damage and will not open properly so they need to be sent into the Casio repairs department. Call them at 800-706-2534 and ext 2 and tell them that you have a lens error and they will tell you where to send your cameras. :)
Not really, it sounds like the lens has been bumped while it was extended. Unfortunately, the "buzz" you hear is the gears stripping one another. The only fix is to have the lens assembly replaced, which usually costs upwards of $200. I see this problem at least 3 times a week in my shop.
