Question about Samsung Yepp YP-T7JX MP3 Player

1 Answer

Windows does not detect device

I have the samsung YP-T7JX (the 512 mb I think) and the YP-T7JZ (1gb) version. I have the software CD installed but its only working with the 1 gb. Anytime I plug the 512 in it says no device is detected. Am I missing something?

Both units play great and I am using the same usb cord for both units. I have in the past put music on both and still have music on both units.

What is the firmware and how do I send in to get it rebooted?

I was on a different computer when I last put music on it.

Your software may be setup for only one device and will only find the latest one. However, when you plug in the 512 model windows should still notify you that something has been attached to the usb port. If the device plays ok the batteries are probably ok and if so it's probably the connector or the cable unless you're using the same cable with both units. If the unit doesn't play it might be the batteries but even then windows should notify you when you connect the device if it's making a connection because the battery charger should start drawing current through the usb cable and windows should sense this. Mine stopped working when my grandson removed the cable while updating the firmware. Had to send it in to get the firmware rebooted

contact samsung at 1 800 samsung but if it's not under warranty they'll charge you and it may be as much as a new comparable unit.

it's probably not the connection but the software, try loading it from a different computer that the 1 gByte unit's software is not on. If so, the software will probably not detect the old device once the new device has been used with it.

the firmware's probably not bad if the unit still plays.

There are cheaper ones from reasonable sellers, but the couple I looked at ship only to USA/Canada'
It has a good picture picture of what you are looking for.
It is a USBa to mini USB, used to connect many MP3 players and small external hard drives

You should be able to find one at any electronics store and yes, you should be asking for a data cable.

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER WONT DETECT DEVICE

i had a similar problem (would not load driver) and was able to solve with the following: 1. install version 10 or greater of windows media player. 2. in Device Manager (hardware tab on System in Control Panel) right click the ? Samsung YP-T7J and pick update driver 3. Select No, not this time, Next> 4. Install from a list...., Next> 5. Don't search, I will choose.., Next> 6. Select Portable Devices, Next> 7. Select MTP Device, Next> 8. The drivers are copied and the device is recognized. There are other prompts depending on your media player config, but only pertains to how the device is handled. jlw.
