Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

Shadows on prints

The printer leaves a shadow from text/graphics repeatedly down each page. Each page has a faded "copy" of the above text repeated down the page. I have tried to use the utility cleaner many times but it does not help. The problems occurs less, the more the printer is used throughout the day. Replacing the toner does not solve the problem either. How can I stop this?

How do I fix or replace the Fuser from the HP 2600N?

  • bwhitty Dec 05, 2007

I have experience with electronic repairs, including laptop repairs, but have never attempted a printer. I do not think it will be overwhelming if I have an idea of what I'm looking for and how to get to it, as well as the tools required. Also, can the fuser be fixed, or do I have to buy a new one, and if so, where do I obtain a new one?

Definite ghosting on all pages of documents - especially on color documents. Changed out the black toner cartridge - no change. Wiped down the transfer belt - some improvement, but not much. Any other ideas?

Hi, The problem your having sounds like a Fuser . The Fuser will cause printed text to give a ghosting look down the page were it repeats itself.

Ok well first off have you ever done any maintenance or repairs on a printer? I will be more than happy to walk you thru the steps but I just don't want you to be overwhelmed by replacing the part?

using the D-pad on your printer, scroll down the menu until you get to "maintenance"
Press OK
Scroll down to "clean printhead"
press OK
The printer will now make some noises and after about 30 seconds will say complete.
Now scroll down once more to "Print test page"
press OK
load paper and press the start button

Iff the printed page looks ok...job done. If still faint, repeat the above steps once more.

I have a Canon printer. Whenever pictures or text gets a double or blurry image I open the printer solutions menu. It sounds as though there is a problem with inkjet alignment. By clicking the realignment button the printer will automatically realign the jets. I usually test the alignment by printing a page from that program. All the line segments should line up.

Printer output has shadows, blurring, streaks, lines, poor color

Seem like blocked hole(s) on the color print head...
Most likely if there is a deep clean option then do it (may need a few times to unblock a hole or never).
Also get the printer physically cleaned up if you can see dusts inside (vrtical lines on color bars).

1.On the face of the printer press the "Menu" button>Admin Menu>Maintrnance>Color Reg Adj>
Auto Correct>Yes
2. "Menu" button>Admin Menu>Maintrnance>Clean Developer>(Pick problem color)>Yes.

Hope it helps

Shadows on prints

The comment from Kasmodan2 is true it can the toner cartridge, but is most cases it is the fuser. I repair HP laserjet machines day in and day out to replace the fuser is easy.
  1. Turn power off
  2. Open cover at right hand side rear
  3. Remove data cable
  4. Open top cover remove toner cartridge and press button on right hand side and slide the right hand cover off
  5. Open the back cover and lower the door all the way down
  6. Remove the two silver screws
  7. Take out the paper tray as this will be easier to remove the back cover
  8. Pull the back cover from the bottom and should unclip be careful not to break this cover.
  9. Once open then you will see the fuser unit unplug the connections and remove the screws then slide out the fuser unit
  10. Refit the new fuser unit plug in all the connections and reverse the above process
  11. Turn machine on and test if all good the machine will work fantastic if there is a constant red light repeat above and check connections if still red light then the new fuser faulty and not heating up.
Hope this helps all of you
Thanks J

Text "ghosts" or shadows

Replace Drum or blade(if possible) will fix on most types of copiers/printers, or rarer it is cause of fuser.
