Mouse pad won't work

whenever any device stops working first try re-installing it as follows:
go to start -> control panel -> devices -> press on + sign to open each device.
scroll down till u reach ps/2 mouse, right click mouse and release on uninstall., switch computer off (hard reset) and back on windows will then re-install driver during boot - up.
if that doesnt work go to laptops website and download its touchpad driver (most called synaptics) and install.

The touch mouse will scroll and move but won't click.

you might have to reset it
Most modern laptops with touchpads offer vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling or both. These features are located along the right-hand and bottom edges of the touchpad, respectively, and are activated when you swipe your finger along the touchpad edge. Scrolling functionality is nearly always enabled by default, but some users find the feature an annoyance and elect to turn it off. In most cases you can simply turn the feature back on using the Windows Control Panel.

Click the Windows Start button, select "Settings," and then click "Control Panel." Double-click the icon labeled "Mouse." Select the Touchpad properties tab. The labeling of this tab varies, depending on your computer manufacturer, operating system version and the device drivers installed on your machine. Common labels include "Touch Pad," "Device Settings" and "Dell Touchpad." If you do not see this option, you may not be able to turn on scrolling for your laptop; skip the remaining steps and refer to the "Warnings" section below. Click the "Settings" button within the Touchpad Properties menu and look for the section labeled "Scrolling Settings" or similar. Enable scrolling within this section and define other scroll settings, such as scroll zone width and scrolling speed. Click "OK" to confirm your changes, and then close the Control Panel windows opened in the previous steps. The scrollbar on your laptop is now enabled.
Scroll Is Not Working With Windows 7 b> Certain computer touchpads have a vertical section on the pad itself that is used to scroll through the page or program window that you are currently viewing on your computer. If the scroll functionality suddenly stops working but the actual touchpad is still fine, this means that the part of the software for the device that controls the ability to use the scroll has been disabled. You can enable it again in the Control Panel.
Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Mouse." Select the "Enable Scroll" option (or whatever similarly named option is available on your specific model of laptop computer). Click "Apply." The scroll bar on your touchpad will now work again.

HP 2530p EliteBook - touchpad stopped working. Scrolling works except touch scrolling on right side of pad) and right button, but that's all. Wireless mouse works fine.

To access Mouse Properties, select Start - Control Panel - Hardware and Sound -Mouse.

Use Mouse Properties in Windows to customize settings for pointing devices, such as button configuration, click speed, and pointer options.

My Dell Vostro 1014 laptop's touch pad does not work!! The buttons work fine but I'm having problems with the pad. The drivers are up to date and the application used to control the touchpad c

If you have a external mouse, or you can borrow, go into device manager to see if the pad is enabled, if okay! try a system restore bringing the computer back in time before this happened, if still no luck the sensor pad maybe defective, the last option a complete recovery of the operational system to factory setting, this will prove if the sensor pad is defective, or wire ribbon might have come loose from the motherboard.

My cursor does not move with the touchpad, only with the external mouse.

Not sure what OS you have, so I'm giving generic advice here:
under computer management or hardware, launch your Device Manager.
Scroll down the device manager to "mice and pointing devices".
Click the "+" to expand the list.
Find your touchpad on the list and right click it.
Select properties.
In the window, look for a way to enable the device.
Click OK.
It should work.

The mouse seems to be frozen, when you start the laptop up it is no longer possible to move the mouse. I have tried left click, drag and right click but nothing seems to work, including contal alt del.

Your touchpad may have stopped working either from it is damaged or somehow the driver/software was diabled or removed. You could try re-booting in safemode and see if the mouse can move to verify the touchpad is working. Also try using a usb mouse to see if you can move the indicator with that so you can try to re-install the drivers/software.

Have you tried pressing the Fn + F8 keys? This combination is used to disable and enable the mouse pad.

My touchpad mouse has stopped scrolling otherwise it works

the scroll in a touch pad has nothing to do with the touch pad. It is the software that handles it. If you know what software or drivers you need, try reinstalling it. I can't help you to much with that part. All I know is that your pad is perfectly fine.
