My labtop powers up but nothing showes up on screen

First of all, make sure you haven't turned video off. Is there an external monitor plugged in but not turned on? Did you press the Function key which transfers the display to an external monitor, or the one which turns the display off? Did you turn brightness or contrast all the way down?

If none of those solve the problem, you need to determine whether the LCD screen or its backlight are failing. Start the machine and illuminate the screen with a flashlight held close to the screen. If the backlight has failed and the LCD is okay, you will be able to make out a faint image. If the LCD has failed, you will see nothing.

If it's the backlight, you need to get a DC-DC converter board. Cheapest to get one on eBay and find installation instructions on the Dell website. If it's the LCD, also cheapest to buy on eBay and instructions are on the Dell website.

My monitor (HP vs15) is flickering for about 5 seconds and then goes black. I managed to get it to turn back on and stay on, but now it is very dim.

It sounds like the LCD inverter is dying.

It would be cheapest to have it repaired but it would make the most sense to buy a new monitor.

If you have it repaired it might just be another part that dies next week.

My son crack the LCD glass on his 204T SyncMaster

The glass of the panel is glued or welded to the LCD wafer below, it cannot be replaced separately. Since the panel is the most expensive part of an LCD monitor, its probably the cheapest option to just get a new monitor - spare part ordering and extensive manual work required for the change simply outweighs the remaining value of the monitor.

My HP W19b LCD monitor has large areas of the screen that are not in focus (color muddy) and what can be best described as pixel movement. Any idea of what is wrong and how I can take the unit apart -...

Could be the monitor or could be the video card in your computer. Try another monitor or try this monitor on another computer to determine which. Either way, it's not a repair you should attempt. Modern electronics are all circuit boards and miniature components and not something you can "solder". Get another monitor or have the video card replaced.

I want to know where i can buy a cheap tft panel for hp 1730?

First, the terms "cheap" and "panel" don't go together. The display is the most expensive part of an LCD monitor, and when it breaks you're best off not even thinking about buying a replacement. With the cost of new monitors dropping (19-inch models as low as $125 online), you can't hope to resell one without losing money if you buy a replacement panel.

Second, you would need to know that any panel you did find would work properly. All LCD panels are not the same, and you would need one compatible with the monitor's driving electronics and connecting cables. This complicates finding generic replacements.

If you want to sell the monitors, you might consider contacting a company such as blueraven.com or shopjimmy.com that is in business to buy this kind of equipment, dismantle it and resell the working parts. Or you could try eBay. There may be people offering similar models with good displays, or you could sell yours. But you will ultimately lose money if you try to repair these by purchasing parts.
