Question about Brother IntelliFAX 1270E Plain Paper Fax
Yesterday, 11-29, someone got a really bad static shock from the fax machine (have been getting shocked since the weather's colder). Immediately after
that happened, the keypad stopped working. There is a dial tone in the handset, and we can receive faxes, but none of the buttons on the machine are
working. We tried unplugging it, waiting and re-plugging it, twice. Nothing changed. None of the buttons make any noise, and none of the buttons being pressed show anything on the display. The display just shows
Most office machines are properly grounded and don't suffer from static problems as severe as this. The machine is not repairable. Before you replace the machine, make sure that your electrical outlets are properly grounded. Then buy a line conditioner that will protect against this.

Tips for a great answer:
Has the receiver gotten faxes (from other senders) since your problem started? It sounds like the receiving fax is not answering the call. Also to determine if it's your problem or the receiver's problem send a test fax to someone else.
