You have water damage...

REMOVE THE BATTERY!

*Choice one- Methyl Alcohol

Clean the circuit with Methyl Alcohol

  • Dip a q-tip in the alcohol and squeeze the q-tip.(you want it to be almost dry)
  • Very carefully clean the circuit and allow it to dry, it is important that you clean around the medal to prevent short circuits.

*Choice two- Rubbing Alcohol

Clean the circuit with Rubbing Alcohol
  • Dip a q-tip in the alcohol and squeeze the q-tip.(you want it to be almost dry)
  • Very carefully clean the circuit and allow it to dry, it is important that you clean around the medal to prevent short circuits.
  • Rubbing alcohol has a slower evaporation rate so you need to wipe the area with a clean q-tip after cleaning it with the alcohol.
If this dose not work you need a new phone, good luck.

My lg chocolate 3 keep saying i need to use a genuine battery when i never changed the battery and it won't turn on.I'm not even sure if it will charge.

hi,
Sorry to say this you have to replace the battery.your battery is same but the level of charge amount it emits to the phone is abnormal so it says
"use a genuine battery".....the level is low or high.....

please rub the q-tip of your battery so some times corrosion may cause it...
the +ions and -ions of the battery is spoiled inside the battery.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

EnV3 issue

The Problem is a well docuented problem with the version of firmware loaded into the phone. No *228 will fix it, the phone MUST be brought back to a Verizonwireless store (NO third Party Stors) and reflashed. This fixed my two phones.

When turned on says "Use genuine battery" and when try to charge

I had the same "Replace with genuine battery" then the 10.9.8.7... countdown. Thought the damn thing was going to blow up!! Verizon switched batteries and told me the phone was dead and that they couldn't get any of my contact phone numbers off of it. Wanted to stick the ticking time bomb up their you know what. Never had any problems with the phone let alone never getting it wet. Anyway I didn't fall for their buy a new phone scheme and left the non customer service store fuming. The next day I had an old dinosaur Verizon phone activated to at least have a phone. Went home and checked a few websites for advice. One I came across made the most sense. Rubbing alcohol on the battery contacts and blow dry off using a hair dryer on the cold position for 20 minutes. Use a cotton swab and gently wipe the battery prong contacts on the phone itself as well as the battery contacts. I also wiped down the inside of the battery charging slot. Popped the battery back in and just like magic..... the phone was back from the dead. Told Verizon about the cure and they shrugged their shoulders. This works trust me and don't fall for their buy another new phone gimmick. Can you hear me now? NOOOOO

Battery is always dead

This is a common problem with the Q. It uses a lot of juice to run all of the programs. There are a few things you can do to help with this problem. First, Kill all of your running programs before going to bed. You can do this by selecting Start, then System Tools, then select the Task Manager icon, then choose Menu, then "Kill All". Since you will repeat this a lot it is a good idea to save the Task Manager program as a speed dial. Second, Make sure you are not overcharging you battery. When it is fully charged, stop charging. Charge it again when the battery runs all the way down. Then repeat. This will "reset" your battery. Third, make sure you have a second battery and a battery charger. When you go to bed at night, simply replace the battery with a fully charged one. Finally, try this...keep your phone plugged in at night. Then run it all the way down before you replace the battery. Reset the battery often as you lifetime for the battery will diminish the more you keep it charged all night.
