Re: inverter part

After you remove the metal plate covering the electronics, you will see the circuit board(s). The larger one is what is described as having the inverter as part of it, or what they call the inverter. Go to this website:

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS].In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

In some models of LCD displays; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, they can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. For some other models, the backlight inverter section circuit will be a part of the main power supply regulator [SMPS]. To such sets, the power supply section circuit too should be troubleshooted. Contact any service technician. The circuit will differ with models and versions.
Type in the brand name of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window and the Search will start at once as you type in, and will show you all the related posts. It will make surf easy.

Viewsonic VX924 monitor SMPS failed. Replaced all bad capacitors and have found that one pair of inverter driver transistors has failed. They are marked as DKQR (They are apparently Rohm 2SC4672...

When the DC filter caps no longer filter out high frequency AC, that AC will be fed through out the circuits and cause damages such as the inverter frequency will be running at the wrong frequency and caused overheating.
The service manual does not show the sch of the power supply/inverter board because it is not designed by Viewsonic.

F-20 has sound but no picture, on VGA, or TV cables. Power looks ok. where can i find more info on testing for the problem and fixing. Thanks

Sound but no picture usually implies a faulty backlight. It may be simple case of replacing one or more electrolytic capacitors in the power supply or on the backlight inverter board. It may be that one or more inverter transformers has gone open circuit or short circuit, causing the inverter board to shut down. If this is the case then you can replace the inverter board with a universal inverter board but you will need to figure out the wiring. In most cases there are only three wires required - 12V, 0V and switching wire.

I cannot get rid of OSD

sylvia2265, My best guess is that the unit's power supply (internal) is bad or at least a bit on the "Almost Bad" condition. When "strange" and "unexplained" things start to occur with a CCFL back-lit LCD monitor, I would immediatly suspect the units "switch-mode-power-supply/ CCFL inverter" printed circuit board as the first place to look for problem. You or someone will need to inspect the printed circuit board for component defects. If Westinghouse warranty not solution, then try to locate local tech that knows forwards and backwards all there is to know about common problems with SMPS/inverter circuits in LCD monitors and TV's. 12fixlouie

Hewlett-Packard vs17 half fixed, what to do next?

I have also seen this type of problem. Have you checked the large caps on the inverter board, no just the power supply board? Many LCD monitors have 2 caps on the inverter and I have had to replace them from time to time. The next thing to check would be the driver transistors. I hope this helps.

Inverter Board location---

No, that is just the connector. The inverter board is inside the LCD on an elongated printed circuit board. Its input would be pure DC as opposed to AC from the 120 mains. Its function is to produce high frequency/high voltage to supply the Cold Cathode Florescent Lamp(s) which provide the backlight illumination of the LCD panel.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Attempting to replace F153 Inverter board

You may have to look for it under a different brand name. One way is to get the FCC number off the tag and look it up here: That may show you a different manufacturer name and model number. Also, any info on the inverter itself can be useful. It may be made by Benq or Ambit, etc.
