Cannot set the date on my Canon P23-DH V calcualtor

I'm trying to set the date as per the instruction booklet that came with the calculator. But it won't keep the date, it resets it when I try and get out of that function. It keeps the time, but not the date.
Any ideas??

I'm trying to read the instructions for setting the date and the time on my Canon P23-DH V calculator and they are not very good instructions. I am a layman when it comes to this kind of stuff and need specific step by step instructions. Can you help me please?

I turned the machine on. I pressed the clock/date once and got the preset date. I pressed and held M+= and the "0" of the preset "01" started flashing on and off . I continued to hold M+= while I entered the current date and.... nothing happened.

Even after getting it to flash and setting it to current date it doesn't hold the date. pressing M+= does nothing pressing the red button (CE/C) sets it back to the default factory date. (09/04/2004)

Ok, have your calculator set on "on" press the "time/clock" button once, when date appears on calculator press the "M+=" and hold until first number on date flashes, enter the date you want, when done switch your calculator from "on" to "print". date should be saved. do the same for time.

I do not have a manual, but reading what everyone else did I figured it out.
Turn on calculator; push the calendar/time button once; press and hold the M+= button until the first number flashes; set the date and the cursor will go back to the first number flashing; now press the M+= button once and none of the numbers should be flashing. The date is now set.

Press the Calendar/Time button again and you will now see the time; press and hold the M+= button until the first number is flashing; set the time w/ hours and minutes and the cursor will go back to the first number; to change AM and PM press the button below the M+= button w/ the #diamond on it; then press the M+= button and the seconds will begin. The time is now set.

Hit CE/C to back out and then go back in, again, to see if it set correctly.

Good luck!

Just had the same problem...This what you do...press clock/date key (2nd key from left) will take you to the date mode. Hold 3 secs than press the M+= button on the far right (3rd key down from the top) until 1st digit flashes proceed to put in correct date. Than hit caculator button far left (last button-red) Than repeat to set the mode to time and repeat proceedure. Don't forget to set am/pm button. It is just below clock and date button far right ( 4th key down)....Good Luck and hope this helps. Dawn

None of the above solutions seem to explain how to switch the time setting between AM and PM. I finally found out (the hard way...by hitting every key!) you must hit the key that has the number symbol (#) and the diamond symbol on it. That will switch between AM and PM. On my calculator, this key is located just 1 key below the M+= key.

I was having this same issue. The standard instructions wouldn't update the date. It would automatically go back to the default date.

RESET the calculator! There a little pinhole on the bottom of the calculator, press a pen or paperclip to reset.

After the reset the normal instructions for setting date and time worked.

Once you are done setting the time/date press the M+= again, this should set the time/date and stop if from flashing

Has anyone figured out how to set the date on one of these things yet? Is it just a bug that can't be worked out?

I don't think the P23-DH has a calendar/clock mode. I have found the instructions for setting date and time for the P23-DH V. If your calculator does not have [Calendar/Clock], [Time Set], and [AM/PM] keys, you cannot set the date and time.

To set date:
1. Press the [Calendar/Clock] key once
2. Press and hold the [Time Set] key for three seconds
3. Enter the date in MMDDYYYY format
4. Press the [Time Set] key
5. Press the [C/CE] key

To set time:
1. Press the [Calendar/Clock] key twice
2. Press and hold the [Time Set] key for three seconds
3. Enter the date in HHMM format, press [AM/PM] key if necessary
4. Press the [Time Set] key
5. Press the [C/CE] key

Rather than try to describe the process (through this slot and over that), I'll suggest you follow the illustrated instructions in the manual you can download from http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=346&modelid=15431
