Hitting The Locate Button Shows Incorrect Current Location

History: When I hit the locate button the unit was showing me my previous destination. It looked like it was locked up.

Action:I took DanEz007 advice that I saw from similar posts and Reset Data Saver GPS. I also reset the Data Saver. Upon power up and hitting the locate button I'm now getting a reading listing that I am in California. I live in Michigan. I opened the unit up and all of the cables look secure. The antenna itself looked like it had a small amount of powdery white substance around it that I simply blew off. Any idea where to go from here? Thanks...

So your expert solution to my problem is to basically contact the manufacturer?

The unit is about three years old according to my brother-in-law who gave it to me. I'll have to ask him where he bought it from in order to follow your instruction.

His advice was to replace the antenna. I decided to look on the web for help instead of simply ordering the $25.00 replacement part. This is how I came to join FixYa...

    Additional Advice Requested...

The signal strength is staying Black - acquiring position. There is also a satellite icon rotating on the right hand side. Note: My locate position is now changing to a new city every time I power it up and depress the button.

OK, So we go from don't try and fix this yourself and contact the seller to a high tech status screen...

Not sure what the TeleType GPS program is but I turned the unit on and went through the menus until I found the GPS Status screens.

    My Key Strokes:
    GPS Status

There are two pages under this heading. The first lists channels 1 thru 12 and I do see the toggling of data under the heading Freq & Position. On the second page there are a number of columns displayed but none that with the heading: GPGSV or GPGSA...and there is no updating of data on this screen.

So sorry I could not follow your troubleshooting procedure because I can't find the correct part of the program that lists: Tools or Satellite

    Thank You

Does your unit indicate any level of signal strength? It's a color code as indicated on page 8 of the manual:
Black -acquiring position. Blue -WAAS signal (best signal), Green -Strong Signal, Yellow -Average Signal, Red -No Signal.
If it's not getting any signal it could be a defective antenna.

. Activate the TeleType GPS program

    2. Select Tools>GPS Status>Status.

    3. Look closely at the GPS output that is displayed in the View Status
menu. Data should be flowing even when the GPS receiver has not locked
    in the position.

    The data string that begins:

GPGSV... is "bad data" because the receiver has not locked
    into the satellites.

GPGSA... is "good data" indicating that the receiver has
locked into the satellites. Remember - "A-Okay"

    4. Once the data is flowing, go outside away from buildings, select
the Satellites tab (Tools>GPS Status>Satellites), and watch
    the satellite signal strength

When I open my google it shows sites that I have visited how can I remove them?

Try clearing your browsing history. Open up your Settings on your iPad, click Safari, then Clear History. This will wipe out your iPads previous knowledge of any sites you've visited.

To prevent them from listing moving forward, you can use private browsing. If you're using iOS 7, you can access it by opening Safari, hitting the + button near the bottom of the page, and hitting Private in the left hand corner. It'll ask you if you want to keep or close your currently open tabs after that.

Hope this helps!

Gps won,t move from last location

When you put in a new location how are you entering it? If you are using the "Where to?" menu then you will need to click on the "Map" button instead of GO when you find the point you are looking for, may it be an address or a Point of Interest. This will show the location on the map. If you want that to be your current location you must have the GPS turned off. Then on some units you will Have the option to set as your current location.

I hope this was some help.

It takes forever to get into my yahoo mail, then when I do it shows my emails for a quick second then dissapears!

The first thing you may try is to access your Yahoo! Mail in a different computer, to see if the same problem will occur.

If your Yahoo Mail work correctly on different computer, then the problem has something to do with your computer. Most likely, it's the internet browser. If the problem is within your computer, you may try to clear the cookies, cache, internet files, and/or browsing history of your browser. Here's how:

* For Internet Explorer:

1. Run Internet Explorer and click on 'Tools' menu.
2. Go to Internet Options and locate the Browsing History section.
3. Click the 'Delete' button and delete the Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History.
4. Close the Internet Explorer and re-open it.
5. Access your e-mail.

* For Mozilla Firefox:

1. Run Firefox and hit 'Tools' menu.
2. Go to 'Clear Recent History' and click the drop-down arrow for 'Time range to clear'.
3. Select 'Everything' and then click the line beside details.
4. Check browsing & download history, form & search history, cookies, cache.
5. Click "Clear Now" button.
6. Close and re-open Firefox.
7. Access your e-mail.

* For Safari:

1. Open the Safari.
2. Click the Safari menu (right beside the Apple icon) and select "Empty Cache".
3. When asked "Are you sure you want to empty the cache?", click "Empty".
4. Click the Safari menu (right beside the Apple icon) then go to "Preferences".
5. From the security dialog box, click "Bookmarks".
6. Click on "Show Cookies" button and then hit "Remove All" button.
7. Select "Done".
8. Access your email.

Thank you and good luck!

There may be a setting somewhere to define your 'home' position. It will probably default to this location as standard until you find the setting and reset it to your own postcode/home address

Jaguar Xtype navi routing not working

I had the same problem. What you need to do is clear the waypoint locations from the system. To do this hit the "nav" button, get to destination menu and locate the waypoint icon and touch. Delete all waypoint locations shows up at the bottom. Touch button, which will delete all waypoint locations and it will work again. Just to be safe, I cleared all of my stored locations including previous destinations
