Is it natural gas or propane? They usually come as natural gas. If it is propane has it ever been converted? If not convert it.

The oven heats up but stops a 200 degress

Good Afternoon Ben,

I see that you are having trouble with your dual fuel range, model# PLCF489AC, heating up past 200 degrees. It sounds like it could possibly be something to do with your control board or your oven thermostat. I suggest giving your appliance a hard reset. You will do this by either unplugging it or cutting the power off at the circuit breaker for at least 2-3 minutes. When power is restored to your range, if it still will not heat up past 200 degrees, I suggest you contact your local authorized technician. I hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-
WP

Hi,

You've shown in the video that this is an intermittant problem. These are among the most difficult to isolate because the failure is unpredictable.

This is really not something that you can deal with or fix on your own, as there are really no "user serviceable parts" inside for you to replace in this oven. You would need service manuals, test equipment, etc. to locate and replace the offending part (if it were a fuse or similar, once it blew it would fail predictably and be easy to find - this is not the case for your problem - assuming you have shut off this oven successfully in the past the way you demonstrated in the video and it sometimes does not shut off).

You will likely need to call for professional service. They are equipped with the tools and knowledge to get your oven working properly again. Good luck!

While baking oven starts broiling with no input from controller. f2 is displayed on screen

Hello there:

Note: Also see fan thermal switches Indicates that oven is over temperature in one of the following modes within either a cooking or clean mode of operation.
· Control senses oven temperature above 650 degrees F with the door circuit in the unlock mode.
· Control senses oven temperature above 935 degrees F with the door in the locked mode.
· Stalled cooling fan or airflow problem. · Look for welded relay contacts. (Heating elements on in off mode).
· Look for open thermal switch in lock motor circuit. Switch is normally closed and will open if area overheats due to fan not operating. Look for cause - fan thermal switch not closing, fan stalled, etc.
· Look for high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit due to high contact resistance (poor terminal crimp, deformed terminals, loose connection) or intermittent solder joint on control or intermittent oven temperature sensor.
· Look for electrical noise interference in the oven temperature sensor circuit (Ham radio, cordless phone, etc.).

I wish I had a solution for you...unfortunately I don't. However, if you know anywhere I might find a thermostat knob for this model I would be eternally grateful. I've been searching for 2 years for my mother. It's the knob with 5 settings (off, bake, broil, time-bake and clean).

From what you describe is happening, I would say that it is the fan that is causing the noise, not neccesserily the oven fan, because there is an external cooling fan as well, and these are the only moving parts that could cause a noise.
Hope this helps.

GE JKS06 won't heat up past 200

Hi.
Could be that main oven stat is faulty, and also there is a possibility that the thermal overheat stat is coming in sometimes caused by poor ventilation.

Also there is sometimes a secondary element fitted to cookers which is not always obvious.
More investigation is needed.
