First time chargin Zune 30GB Brown (by 13 users)
I just bought one Zune 30GB Brown over amazon.com and 2 days ago when I got the device I followed the instructions regarding first time charging and after 12 hours of charging it from a USB port on the back of my computer, the device did not respond to any pressing button, the screen was all the time black with the big battery sign with a plug in its middle.
I had no idea what to do, so I returned the device to amazon e asked for another one. So, my question is: How long does it take for the device to be charged for the first time ever? And what happens so that I know it is being charged?

This is not a problem. It means that the battery is completely dead. Leave the Zune plugged into the USB with your computer on. The symbol will disappear in about 3 - 5 minutes. Then the Zune start up screen should appear.

i have to same problem but on top of that my zune hardware wont read on my dell and i have windows xp, im a microsoft kind of guy and i really dont like mac but if i cant get this problem fixed il have no choice than to buy a ipod.

Brand new bought for christmas, from costco.com. We plugged it in and all we saw was a black screen with a battery symbol. It would not respond to any buttons being pushed, totally frustrated. It will not charge and our brand new computer will not recognize it. The zune will also not reset.

I received a white ZUNE 30gb for Christmas - it does the same thing - will not charge and the big plug shows in the screen cannot shut down or anything - HELP! Do I return it of course - get another ZUNE or get another brand - or is this a common problem that can be fixed - what is the solution?

I have the same exact problem. Mine's a 30GB white, but upon the first ever time charging it, the big battery won't go away and it won't do anything.

My Zune does not charges up neither is recognized by the computer. Worse, support does not even know how to fix this and asked me to send it for repair. I just bought it and Had never used it. They tell me it wood take 3 weeks to be repaired. Can you believe this? just bought and it has to be sent for repair? If I knew this I would have never bought it.

I am unable to delete an album from my device. It appears on the device but not in the software. I have tried all the normal ways of deletion which have always worked in the past. Any suggestions?
