My 'Jazz DV-179' camcorder does not charge

My 'Jazz DV-179' camcorder does not charge. I plug it into the computer and the light turnes a red or green but it's not charging for i left it like that for a whole day and it never had more battery after!

Local retailer suggested a universal charger for the 3.7 volt battery and take it out and charge it and put it back in. A bit cumbersome but it might work as long as the charger has 3 contacts in the right places
