Eee PC with elantech, how do I get the normal functions back

I've just bought my Eee PC with elantech smartpad. I think most people like it, because of the many functions. But I just want to work it like normal mouses do. So instead of clicking three times to open a map, I just want to double click.
How do I solve this problem?
Thanks

Hi!
To solve the problem you have to go to cintrol panal and ther is an option for touchpad and you can change the setting from there as per your preferance.

Every time I boot my EEE PC the touchopad is disabled. I plug in a USB mouse, enable the Elan smartpad through the properties of the Elan smartpad and it works ok until I reboot again. How do I enable it...

Usually there is a FN key that will enable the touchpad. I have EEPC and mine is the little blue FN key (usually next to the CTRL and Windows Key) + one of the number keys. Look for a little blue symbol that looks like your touchpad.

As for it being disabled every time you start, I find that very weird. Sometimes installing a wireless mouse, installs software that tells the system to disable the touchpad, so that the 2 don't conflict when using the mouse.

Hi Ali.
you could try this or go to the link at the bottom and have a read up of what else you could try.
Push the computer's F9 button until the Recovery System window appears. Choose the option for Windows Setup and select Recovery. You should see a message disclosing that you will lose all your files in the process as the Recovery puts the machine back to its original factory settings.

Hi, I'm using K40In. I can not use the touch-pad anymore. since I realized that, I've tried plenty ways to install the ELANTECH software.... but can not. plz reply me ASAP.

There should be a function key to enable/disable the touch-pad (Fn and one of the light blue keys usually "F" keys) try to look through the keys and see if you have the pad turnned off, if it was a windows update theat stopped it from working then you should be able to roll it back to a working order from a system restore point. Go under the start menu select accessories, system tools, system restore then select the restore point at which you remember the touch-pad still worked.

My multi touch pad is not working. how can i redeem it again?

You need to go to ASUS's website and find their downloads in the support section. You need to use the chipset, touchscreen, and acpi drivers. The XP drivers will work in win vista and windows 7. You will also want to get the elantech touchpad configuration utility from them. The chipset and acpi drivers will also make your function keys work.

Take the computer back to Best Buy, and either get them to demonstrate the touchpad to you, or to repair/replace the computer, if it is defective.

The elantech settings have a box you can check to disable the pad while typing. Uncheck the box if it is checked.

Touchpad has no tap, left key not working.

Hi there,
I had this issue and resolved it by doing the following:
-Open the start menu by using the windows button
-Use the arrow keys to highlight run and press enter
-Type 'control panel' and press enter, find the mouse properties and enter
-From the buttons tab in mouse properties, go to double click speed and change to slow and confirm the changes
-At this point it probably still wont work, so do the above again but change the double click settings to fast and confirm.
-Restart your PC and this should resolve the matter. you can alter the double click speed again if you wish :)

Hope this helps,
tbo
