    Hey ses4you,

Thanks for your reply. Actually the power light (green) is on but no self-test now (previously after I trun on the monitor, the screen would show the self-test), it's just a black screen. No other noise, no static...Any idea? Thanks again.

yeah, seems like I am experiencing the same problem. When I press the 'ON' switch it worked for a few minutes then it the pictures gone completely even though you will turn it 'OFF' and 'ON' again there's no picture, but, you will hear some 'clicking noise' like some electronic switch or something but no pictures. 'ON' light is on, when you turn it off and let it cool down for a few minutes it will work again for a few minutes. What do you think cause this problem?

Sorry about the delay, it sounds like your High Voltage section is not working. I would check-out the diodes on the Secondary side of the low voltage transformer, next check out the transistor/ Mosfitt that is use to supply the B+ to the Horizontal out-put transistor. Then check your Horizontal out-put transistor. This is the transistor that is near the fly-back and is attracted to the heat sink.

    Good luck

I have (suddenly) a single dotted black line about a quarter wasy down my screen on laptop. Can I get rid of it?

First, you need to verify if the dot is cause by faulty graphics chip/card or LCD/LED. To do this use external monitor, if you cant see dot on your external monitor then you have faulty LCD/LED if you see dot like in your laptop the you have graphics chip/card problem.

The screen vibrates occasionally--just a wiggle--and I think it's about to go kaput. Anything I can do if/when that happens? I thought these old monitors had to be thrown out when they stop working, but...

Anything is fixable for a price. Even though you don't want to here this, the price of repair exceeds the cost of replacement with a newer technology.

Faulty display on screen

Your monitor has a fault in the pincushion correction circuit. Most likely a bad solder connection, a failed diode or capacitor. I recommend you have a repair facility fix this one.
