Question about HP LaserJet 2100 Printer

HP Laserjet 2100 not picking up paper from main tray

I've had this printer for a long time and have received nothing but peak performance. All of a sudden though, the printer is going through all the motions as if it is printing, but the paper is not picking up out of the main paper tray. I only have one tray, and it is not working now.

I also tried to have it feed from the manual input. It again makes all the sounds like it's going to print, but the paper does not get pulled through.

I really don't know what I need to do to fix it and would appreciate your expertise if possible. Thanks

I've had this workhorse for several years and love it, but it has now stopped working. When I turn it on, the green light goes on briefly, then the red light flashes continually. There is no jam. There is paper in both the upper and lower trays, properly placed. When I run printer test from my computer, it says it's out of paper. I've seen ads for repair kits--but it doesn't seem to be a fuser problem. It's probably time to replace the rollers, but I don't want to do that if that won't fix it. Oh--I should mention--the feed has been quirky lately, it was often picking up multiple sheets of paper--and the problem started right after it jammed with multiple sheets. So that probably triggered the problem. But it doesn't seem like just replacing the rollers will solve the problem because now it doesn't act like it's trying to move the paper.

Have HP Laserjet 2100. When printint is sent to preinter I get message "out of paper". It will print test page from printer but not from computer.

How do I set up so it knows it has paper? I have tried various drivers and reinstalling printer.

My 2100 suddenly stopped printing. The flashing light indicating it was working on a print job would flash forever without anything actually printing. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. No change. I updated the driver. No change. However, if I simply press the print button on the printer itself while the light is flashing, then the job gets printed. Luckily for me, the printer is within arm's length of where I sit at my desk, so this is an easy workaround for me. It would be less helpful if your printer is further away, but maybe the solution I found will provide a clue as to what's wrong.

My 2100 also jams by always trying to grab more than one sheet of paper and that happens from both the manual feed and the auto feed tray. It actually gets very little use. Some weeks, I print nothing at all, so I wonder if the rubber wheels on the rollers or "feeders" are drying out? They're certainly not worn out or dirty from heavy use.

You could try simply cleaning the feed roller but it desirves more than that from the sounds of your relationship

The fed rollers are probally worn and need replacement,as you have had it for a long time and it has treated you well why not do the machine a favour and have a maintence kit fitted.

4mv won't pick up paper

The feed rollers need to be replaced. The squeak is the worn rollers sliding over the edge of the paper.

I have a HP CP2025 that will not pick up the paper from tray2 or print from tray1. It will pull the paper in from tray1, but it jams at the rear of the printer. It sounds like the printer is trying to pick...

It sounds like a blockage in the paper path at the rear of the unit. This unit picks from the rear of tray 2, and there is a separate path for tray 1 that conveys the paper above that tray and back to where it can intersect the main paper path. Sounds like you have a blockage where those 2 paths intersect.
Remove the cassette 2, and in that hole, there are 2 levers that allow you to lower the bottom half of the tray 1 bypass path. Look back in there for the tiniest scrap of paper left behind.
Next, if nothing is found, open the rear door, and again with a flashlight, look down in the bottom of the paper path for a small bit of torn paper, or some other obstruction. Odds are this is your problem.

My hp 2100 laserjet makes a sqeeking noise when it begains to print as if it is a roller, it works fine from the upper single feed with no noise please advise. Thanks

This could be caused by a worn and shiny paper seperator pad in the cassette tray 2.It sits at the front in the middle of the tray

Rollers on HP laserjet 2100 need replacing

You are right, they do need replacing (pick up roller and separation pad)

If all of the above doesn't work, which it probably won't, it sounds like you need to change the separation pad in the paper cassette and the manual feed tray. The separation pad in the tray is relatively easy to change. The multi purpose tray separation pad replacement will require removal of some covers to get to... Any good service center should charge you around $65 for the service and $20 for the parts....and while they have the machine apart they can check the other volatile parts in the machine to let you know where you stand with those.....Hope this helps
