Re: how to reassemble door catch of indesit tumble drier

Very difficult to explain with out pictures, the pin should go through the spring it really is a matter of fiddling until you get it right or go back to where you bought it from and ask them how it goes.

Gas dryer?

If so, probably bad gas solenoid valves. They can safely be replaced without fear of releasing gas. Two phillips screws, two pull off wire plugs. That's it. Cost about $30 bucks depending on where you buy them. They are a universal part and will fit 99.9% of machines.

Best of luck...

Door switch broke

The drier will not operate without the door being secured for safety reasons. There is power running to the switch and once the door is shut and the lever,or the "spring" is pushed in it allows the power to turn on.Almost like a light switch. The door switch will have to be replaced. This is a very easy repair. The switch can be found at your nearest appliance store or online.

My door for a hotpoint ctd40 tumble drier wont stay closed. The spring latch seems ok but not holding dooe closed. Any ideas since it dont say anything in my manual about it and its 2 yrs old. cheers andy

Hi andy.

the fault is likely to be in the roller catch mechanism. Hotpoint have modified these. Part Number is C00257618.

It includes both door latch and catch.
If you have problems obtaining one please email me on: or call me on 01733 307019

Hotpoint CTD00 Door Catch Replacement

If yuo are referring to the catch on the door, then undo all the scews holding the 2 halves of the door together, and prize apart, fit new door catch.
If you mean the door lock, then you will have to remove the top cover and right hand side panel to access the door lock.
Hope this helps.
Plz rate this solution.

Tumble dryer hotpoint ctd00

Unscrew all screws that hold the 2 halves of the door together, then with a screwdriver or similar, prize apart the 2 halves of the door, be careful the door glass does not fall onto the floor.
Fit new parts, reassemble door, and hey presto!!!

How to fit a belt on a tumble dryer

unplug the dryer,
220v is not fun
dryers are generic inside, regardless of maker
while you got it apart to replace the belt is a good time to clean out exhaust vent pipes and the squirrel cage fan, no lint, better air flow, less $$ to run
3cd9043.jpg the tensioner may push Up on the lower run.

  • open case, most front panels are removed including door, remember to disconnect door switch wires, set panel aside
  • pull drum out
  • check drum support rollers
  • check drum felts, bushes guides
  • locate tensioner pulley, belts have been known to pull them out of the mounting when it breaks, check , reinstall if out
  • pick up broken belt off floor of case
  • take belt to parts store and match it, despite the huge number of dryer models there are very few belts.
  • If any felts or rollers are worn, stuck, damaged take them too to the parts store, and replace in pairs, despite the huge number of dryer models there are very few rollers or felts
  • after ensuring rollers anf felts and bearings are serviceable, loop new belt around drum at the wear mark from prior installation, reinsert drum
  • loop new belt around motor pulley.
  • pull tensioner pulley against spring to end of motion
  • loop belt around tensioner pulley
  • allow tensioner to slowly move back by spring tension till the belt is taut
put front panel back on, plugging in door switch
plug in mains
dry clothes
takes longer to type than to do

White knight 767 tumble drier

If the rug was very heavy you could have burnt up the motor. If it will restart after it cools off, replace the motor and clean out the vent system.

Good luck.
