GeForce FX 5200 PCI Display Problem

My GeForce card has a strange problem. I have tested it on two systems. It has dual vga out. It works alright while working in Bios or Dos mode and when the windows login comes up but as soon as it tries to go into windows screen becomes blank nothing appears up. If you restart the system again it works fine in setup, dos, bios mode etc. no matter how long. But it doesn't go into the windows. Plzzzz advise. I already have tried updating drivers and so on but no success. Many thanks in advance.

Re: GeForce FX 5200 PCI Display Problem

Did you try to start it in safe mode? If you can then the resolution is too high

Hp pavillion a1632x

According to this page,

Unless you added parts, or got a different variation of the computer, the A1632X has two available PCI slots and one available PCI Express x16

I'm the GF FX 5200 only came in AGP and PCI packages, the PCI Express model was label as a 5300.

If you have the PCI version, it should work. If you have the AGP version, there is no slot for it in the A1632X

Here you have an auto detect applet. You need to have Java in order to work. this will identify your graphic card and lead you to driver download.

if not, you can manually download it from here:

choose GeForce 5 Fx Series and your operating system.

after that, you will be presented with a page and download button for the driver suite.

run, install, next until finish, then you are done.

You may be prompted to restart your PC to finish installation.

Yes, you will need to install VGA drivers for the card to work properly and at its peak performance.
The drivers for your GeForce 5200 can be found here.

Just select the following from the boxes:
Product Type: GeForce
Product Series: GeForce 5 FX Series
Product: GeForce FX 5200
Operating System: The operating system you are using on the PC that you want to put the card into.

I have a GeFORCE FX 5200 PCI card, and onboard graphics. I had to restore my system, and cannot find the user manual. If it was available online, I'd follow the steps myself, but I'll settle for a quick...

You do not necessarily need to disable the built in graphic adapter, the computer can manage two different adapters.
The nVidia should show picture with standard VGA definition (800x600 only) if simply connected to the AGP or PCI slot even if drivers are not installed, and even if built in GPU is not disabled.
If there is no picture, check installation in slot, check that card is not disabled in BIOS, check video cable is well connected, and if nothing works, test the video adapter on different PC, the card may be faulty.

I have a Dell Vostro 400 and two video cards. Only one card will work and it is an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200.The other one is an ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO. These are the specs from the two graphics cards:...

you cant join two different platform vga cards. simply because they have their own platform and have separate drivers, so they conflict each other thus causing one of them shut off or disable..

Nvidia fx 5200

The only time that this can happen is if the driver is not installed correctly, as on install you are normally asked if you want to activate support for dual monitors, so if you havent already, uninstall the card driver, restart and install driver again from the cd or from the NVIDIA website. If you have already tried this my apologies.
