Need help with dvd/vcr combo

I had the same problem with 2 of these same units that I had to
return.  I think it is a flaw in their circuit design.

I basically determined that if you hook up S-Video and play a VCR
tape, it kills the VCR side and will no longer play VCR tapes.  Only
the audio seems to work at that point.

I tried to hook up both RCA and S-Video because the manual states that
only the DVD side will play through S-Video.  Not sure if the death of
the VCR side was a result of having both the RCA and S-Video hooked
up, or if it would still die if just S-Video was hooked up.  Either
way, it looks like they may have a problem.

combo unit. The VCR on my unit is not connected to the s-video inputs or
output. S-video is only connected to the DVD side. I simply ran an extra
cable to the video connector on the A/V inputs. If I use an A/V cable on the
output everything works.

Take it back and ask for a replacement. Why not visit the manafacturers
website and look at the FAQ. If all else fails get a replacment.
