I am trying to install a ricoh 1232 multifunction printer/scanner/copier to a network. The printer is working perfectly but it wont pick up the scanner. I am using the network twain driver found on ricoh,s website.

I'm not sure what might be exactly your problem but some time ago I wanted to extend the cable from my paralell por to my scanner and realized that even if the cables joined perfectly, the scanner didn't work. So I went to a computer store and wanted to buy a longer cable but salesman explained me that it shouldn't work for my scanner because pins were different. Your problem might be this. Look for a GOOD computer technician and ask him if this is the problem and if he can adapt a cable from PCI card to printer.

Check the following:
1) Drum unit
Is the drum unit installed in host machine?
NO : Install the drum unit.
Is the connection of the connector (J908) on the BD detection
PCB, connector (J907) of the laser unit, and connector (J102) on
the DC controller PCB normal?
NO : Correct the connection.
3) Laser/scanner unit, DC controller PCB
Try replacing the laser/scanner unit. Is the fault corrected?
YES : End.
NO : Replace the DC controller PCB
You need to click on 'control panel' and find 'fax and printers'. If your printer is listed designate it as the primary printer. (make sure it's even listed....and you have the drivers for the printer name and model)
What that means is that there is an internal hardware failure in this printer and it's actually gonna require a service. It's actually an internal hardware failure that's going on within the printer. You would have to contact the Canon tech support USA and they will be able to give you further guidance on what to do.
make sure all leads connecting to your printer have dust free secure seating You might have to uninstall the printer restart your computer then reinstall your printer click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow? ! question exclamation mark or a red X this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver disable uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options also you can troubleshoot the device hope it helps
if you are unable to get it from the manufacture of the device please go to www.radarsync.com and download this 100%freee driver utility, it will update and install any of your drivers and help install drivers for things that you cant get drivers for I.E printers
scanners/ mice/ speakers ect.ect and it is totally free ok?
