I want to add a hard disk drive how master and selave

These are called jumpers. The jumper settings on each brand of hard are different There will be a diagram on the hard drive that will tell you where to place that little plastic piece and what pins.
The only thing you really need to know is the Acronyms:
MAS - Master SLA - Slave CS - Cable Select
You may need to go into your bios and modify the settings so the motherboard can see it. If you do end up having this problem let me know and I will walk you through it.

My second internal hard drive isn't showing up under my computer, but show in bios, and add harware Maxto 4R060J0 60gb

Your 2nd. hard drive needs to be set up as a slave or master, this is done by the jumper in back of the drive. If you have a cd drive as a slave when connecting with the ide ribbon & are connecting the new drive on a different ribbon it needs to be set as master drive. A little more info on your prob. will help answer your question. When you see the drive in bios, does it say master or slave?

Dual Boot

I am assuming they are both internal hard drives, If this is the case, on the back of the hard drive itself, there will be a set of pins with a little plastic connector in between two of them. This connector selects the role of the hard drive.

You want to set the Hard drive which has the operating system installed on it to MASTER and set the hard drive you want to use for extra space as SLAVE.

This tells the computer which hard drive to actualy boot from. It is not possible to run to Operating systems at the same time.

When I attempt to log on to my computer, I get message "Loading personal settings", but it immediately changes to "Logging off"...I can't even log on.....HELP!!! I am using an emachines w4685....

My Name is ArmyMason, I am here to help you. Are you seeing any flash of Blue Screen before it reboots? If not it sounds like you have a boot virus. If you can't boot to Safe Mode best the way to fix this is to pull out the hard drive and put it into another computer that has up to date Antivirus. On the hard drive are pins with a little plastic piece attached to them above that should be a diagram SL = Slave, MS = Master, CS = Cable Select. Depending on the Setting the persons harddrive that is in the computer you are about to put that Hard Drive into depends on the setting you need for your Hard Drive. So remember or right down the setting of your hard drive. If there hard drive is set to Master set your hard drive to slave. If there hard drive is set to Cable Select set yours to Calbe select. With the computer off and unplugged, locate the cable that the hard drive is connected to and take your hard drive and connect it to the second connector which is in the middle of the cable. This is where all slave hard drives go. Note: Dont worry you wont infect the host computer with a virus, because its not an active partition. <--- techy info... Now boot the computer and once the Hard Drive is detected run the Antivirus program on that drive.

There are other solutions, but this is one way you can remove the virus without having to format your computer and start over. If its a Blue Screen please make a post with blue screen issues so that we can figure out exactly what the error is.

Dvd rom wont register

thats maybe due to the data cable thats the flat cable that transfer the data from your motherboard to the dvd in the back of your hard drive and the back of your dvd there are some pins and a little block made by plastic . that is call a jumper and thats what does the settings for your drivers and on top of the hard drive it has a diagram to set them the dvd has that one to but is on the back next to the power conexion so your hard drive needs to be set as master and if they are using the same data cable the dvd needs to be set as slave

Load a new hard drive

Hi Dutshy1,

On back of the hard drive did you move the jump on your main hard drive and set it to Master and your secondary hard drive set to Slave.

Where the jumper is suppose to go is printed on the sticker on top of your hard drive.

The jumper is the little plastic thing on the back of the hard drive connecting two pins together next to the power port and where the IDE cable is suppose to connect.

let me know if that works.
