Question about HP LaserJet 2100 Printer

Pickup Roller not turning for upper tray

Have a 2100 that is having issues pulling paper from the upper tray. The pickup on the lower tray is 100 percent. It will once in a while work and feed from the upper tray. On the failed feeds the roller does not turn and the solenoid does not release the gear on the roller shaft. Is this a issue with the solenoid, pickup assembly or main board. Any input on this would be much appreciated!

Re: Pickup Roller not turning for upper tray

I think it is not a problem with the parts you mention, I think it may be that the printer is not getting told to feed from manual bypass tray (tray1) (ie driver setting)

what software are you using, is driver correct, what operating system, what are you tring to feed from bypass just standard?

I have fixed hundreds of these and the parts you mention I doubt is the fix

There are options on how this tray behaves available, in driver

tell me more and I'll help you

How do i clean the rollers on my printer?

Paper Tray Rollers Step 1 Turn off and unplug your HP printer. Pull out your printer's paper tray and locate the printer rollers on the paper tray. Each roller is gray or black, and they are made of rubber. Remove the rollers from the tray.
On HP inkjet printers, the printer roller is not on the paper tray; it is on the area inside of the printer where the paper tray slides into the unit. Remove the paper tray and sit your HP inkjet printer upright, so the paper tray area is facing upward, and then look for the printer roller.
Step 2
Pour 1 tbsp. of isopropyl alcohol or clean water onto a lint-free cloth and scrub the paper or internal tray rollers with the cloth. Fold the cloth in half and repeat the cleaning process until the rollers are free of dust and debris.

Step 3
Wipe the rollers with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining dust or debris. Let the rollers dry completely before sliding the paper tray back into your printer.
Internal Pickup Roller - Laser Printers Only Step 1 Turn off and unplug your HP printer. Open your printer's front door and pull the printer's toner cartridge toward you to remove it from the printer.
Step 2
Locate your printer's internal pickup roller. The roller is gray or black, and it is made of rubber. Lift the roller upward, towards the front of your printer. Pull the roller gently out of the printer and lay it on a clean surface, such as a desk or workbench.
Step 3
Pour 1 tbsp. of isopropyl alcohol or clean water onto a lint-free cloth and scrub the pickup roller with the cloth. Fold the cloth in half and repeat the cleaning process until the roller is free of dust and debris.
Step 4
Wipe the roller with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining dust or debris. Let the roller dry completely before snapping the pickup roller back into place inside of your HP printer. Reinstall the toner cartridge and close your printer's door.

My hp laserjet 1320 takes in more than one paper while printing, which get stuck.

Cleaning the pickup roller will only temporarily delay problem. The pickup roller and separation pad needs to be replaced to correct the multiple paper pickup problem. The roller and separation pad is easy to replace. These parts come in a kit caller RK-1320 the parts kit is available here:

HP P3005DN Tray 2 pickup roller does not turn. Hear clicking sound but roller doesn't turn to pickup and feed paper.

This is a problem with the Pickup roller.

Try to inspect the paper pickup roller, on the right side of the roller you can find a small notch which gets coupled with the shaft it will be broken. You have to replace the roller.

How do I clean the rollers on my IBM Infoprint 1332??

I most cases if you are having paper pickup issues with this unit the rollers will be worn down not just dirty. The pickup rollers that pull the paper from the paper tray on the bottom of the printer are not very expensive, they run about $4.00 We carry them in stock at: Replacing them would be much better than just cleaning the rollers. If you pull the paper tray out and look under the bottom of the printer you will see 2 small rollers with rubber tires on them. These are the pickup rollers, they should feed rough, if they feel smooth then they need to be replaced. We also carry the full preventive Maintenance roller kit that includes the pickup rollers, charge roller and the transfer roller. We provide full tech support for all purchases too.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution,

Hp 4345 mfp rpinter not pickup paper from tray 2(lower tray) erro

Is it pulling paper from the manual feed station?

If so then you need to make sure the paper tray size is correct for your paper stock.

You can also pull out the tray completely - power off the system and while looking into the tray openning power on the system. As part of it's power up initialization- it will cycle the feeder roller shaft but not lower it for a pickup. If that does not spin then you may have a broken gear.

Is the printer making any strange noise?

let me know - we can take it from there.

Says out of paper and is not out of paper

Most of the time, paper feed issues have to do with two sets of rollers in your machine that are responsible for paper pickup and paper separation. (It sounds as though you may have a "pickup" issue).

Turn off the unit. Unplug the power cord. With the bottom paper tray removed, you will be able to see these rollers hanging down toward the front of the machine when you look inside where you removed the tray.

The pair of rollers are the pickup rollers. The single larger roller is the separation roller. Check that these rollers are not dirty.

Clean the pickup rollers with a wet, hard, lint-free cloth; the separation roller with a wet, soft, lint-free cloth. Clean horizontally along the rollers. Turn them around a little at a time to get at the entire surface.

You may also want to clean the pad in the paper tray. Use a wet, hard, lint-free cloth and scrub the pad horizontally.

Replace the paper tray. Plug in the unit.

Printer not picking up paper from paper tray

1). take all the paper out of the paper tray.
2). look at the printer pickup roller while you enable the printer to print a test page.
3). if the roller is not turning, and hear click sound, then you need to take the printer to be service. The gear that runs the pickup roller is broken.
4). if the pickup roller truns, but you still hear the click sound, then most likely the secondary roller gear is broken. You still need to bring it to be repair.

call the repair shop and find out how much it cost and how long, It is cheaper to get a new printer than to have it fixed.

Printing problem with HP Laserjet P2015 printer

This can be an issue with one of the faulty sensor across the printer.
Please check if you are able to print from tray 1, e.g. a configuration page.
A config page can be printed by holding the Green Button and releasing it as soon as the Triangle light comes on. This would take approx 5 secs.
If the printer is able to print from tray 1, then it could be an issue with the tray 2 pickup sensor.
Check if the tray 2 pickup sensor ( a black plastic piece to the right of the tray 2 pickup roller) is moving freely (front and back), also check if tray 2 pickup roller is not able to rotate completely.

If the tray 2 sensor is not moving freely and of the pickup roller is rotating completely, then reseat the pickup roller.

Normal use with good media causes wear resulting in the need to periodically clean or replace the pickup roller. Additionally, the use of poor media might require more frequent replacement of the pickup roller. Replacing the pickup roller Complete the following to replace the pickup roller:

CAUTION: Failure to complete this procedure might damage the printer. Unplug the power cord from the printer, and allow the printer to cool.
