Question about Vtech ia5864 Cordless Phone

Open Question

Vtech IA5864 calls out and won't hang up

I have had this phone a few months now and one day it called a number out but wouldn't hang up all I get is the operator saying if you want to make a call hang up and try again. I can't get it to hang up unless I unplug the phone line. When I connect the phone line again it calles out and does the same thing.
Can I fix this or should I just get another phone system?

Calls out, but wont hang up. You have to unplug the phone to successfully disconnect. Then you get a dail tone, but when you call again, it does the same thing. Very frustrating.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Here's a link to this great service

Good luck!

SOURCE: vtech 5.8 GHz and says cant connect

Mine turned out to be not getting power from the surge protector.  Plugged it into the wall and it worked again.  If the power light is off to the base station it is not getting power and won't connect.  I know this is a duh, but I missed it.  Probably not what is wrong with yours.

SOURCE: I have a vtech 5.8ghs

Reset the phone by unplugging BOTH the adaptor and the phone line (the phone gets some power from the phone line). after you have done that put each hand set into the main base till the lite flickers (not the charging stand)... phone should be good to go after that

SOURCE: Phones stopped working. They only read

I'm not familar with the Vtech but I would suspect that all 4 units work off of the answering machine base. It sounds like it is seeing a dial tone.
Take a working phones like the wall phone, if it is easily removed, and use a known good connecting cable between the good wall phone and the jack that the Vtech is plugged into.
If that works, take the connecting cable loose and replace it with the Vtech connecting cable. If that works check the jack on the Vtech for crossed wire. If non found, connect it to the jack the wall phone was plugged into. If this doesn't provide satisfaction, let me know exactly what you did and what happened and we will go from there.

first step is to unplug all power and phone connections from the wall for all Vtech phones and bases.

Second, plug each set and base in the wall for power one at a time.

Go back to the basics and pair the handset with the base of the unit.

Do this for all sets one at a time.

SOURCE: Not Registered Problem

This worked for the 7100, hopefully it works for other models:

When the handset says "not registered", it should still have a "menu" option. Select that, then the only choice is "register", select Ok. Now it says "searching for base", press and *hold down* the "locate handset" button on the base until the handset beeps and wakes up. Docs say this could take up to 30 seconds (it was about 17 for mine).

We have a robo call two times a day - can I block the number? On a Vtech CS5111 phone

The only way to block calls is through your phone service to the house, not on the phone. Call your provider and see if you have call blocking. If not you will need to add that service. Usually for a few dollars a month.

Where is the volume control on the stupid phone, it is nowhere in the menu and no buttons or slider control

While on a call, press down/CID to decrease or up/DIR to increase the volume. (page 11)

To change the answering machine volume, use the VOL- and VOL+ buttons. (page 31)

To change the ringer style, press PROG, use up/down to select "RINGER". Use up/down to select the desired style and press SELECT. (page 9)

How do i enable call forwarding from my vtech phone to my cell phone

Hello! You can turn on call forwarding by pressing 72# then wait until you hear the two tones and dial your number that you wish to send the calls to and then hang up the phone. The two tones signal that it has understood your command and is putting the line into forward mode.

To turn off cal fowarding, press 73# and wait again for the two tones and hang up.

If I enter the phone number and then press "talk", the numbers dial extremely quickly, a dial tone comes on, and I have to enter the numbers again. How do I fix this? It is a Vtech 6.0 DECT.

Usually there are two modes provided to all fixed line telephones. Tone mode and pulse mode. Pulse mode will dial the call slowly and Tone mode will dial calls quickly. Your phone is in Tone mode i guess. You need not dial the numbers again. Wait for few seconds and the call will get accomplished!
