Question about Philips 55PP9401 55" Rear Projection Television
What's happening is that the Tv is cycling. The shutdown circuit is finding a problem whereby the voltages are too high causing the circuit to activate the shudown. the minute the voltages drop within range the micro reinstates the relay trying to power the unit back up..
Your set - with the exception of the micro circuit design is the same as a Hitachi 53UDX10B. It could be something as simple as a couple of caps failing to a component failure. Only way to tell for certain is to trace test the varoius voltages from the regulator forward through their various stages..
My advice is find a good reputable shop and try and take the unit to them for testing and repair. By taking it to them you'll save the pickup and delivery which in some cases could be a hundred dollars.. But from what you're describing it doesn't sound too serious and the Tv is doing what it was designed to do - shut it down to prevent a major problem.
