Question about Maytag MER5775Q Electric Kitchen Range
Hi - my daughter moved into a new house and has a Maytag range (smoothtop). The left front burner - small one - was working when they inspected the house but it is not working now. Are there any tricks to find out what is wrong? Can you suggest best way to fix it?
The only way to find out for sure is to check the voltage to the element.
Most of the ranges have 2 or 3 screws under the front of the top. Remove them and the top will tilt up. Be careful, there is voltage on some of the wires.
Turn the switch on and check for voltage across the element terminals. If you have 240V, then the switch is ok and you probably need an element.
If you can post the complete model number from the tag on the back of the console, I may be able to give a little better directions.
