No sound

Its possible. You can try to do some isolation. First you need to make sure that the speaker or headset jack is connected to the green port at the back of the sound card. Next, if the problem still persist after checking cord connections, are you connecting a speaker only to test? If so, can you try connecting a headset?

Onto the sound driver, we can check if its properly installed. On a Windows XP/Vista unit, all you have to do is to right click My computer, click Manage and then hit Device Manager. If you are seeing a ? mark and then an ! mark, see if it has something to do with the sound driver. If so, you can easily acquire the driver by going to the manufacturer's website. Choose the correct model and the windows version.
