Re: wireless connection

Where did it go? Any errors or just doesn't show up in tray? Has it been disabled in Network Neighborhood?

I don't understand. I can't get on the internet with my netbook because the wireless connection is gone. How can I get internet on it again.

Not familiar with netbook but when you say wireless connection is gone is it your provider, wireless modem/server or your ethernet card? Normally there is a troubleshooter on most laptops that will walk you through it to get you reconencted if you right click on the internet connection icon...

Hp dv6 no wireless capability - light will not go to blue from organe on f12 key press it says wifi off again wifi disabled

When you pulled the Wireless Module, then reinstalled it; you made Windows find the Drivers, again.

[When a new device is installed, Windows 'breaks it's neck' to find suitable matching drivers.
You reinstalled the Wireless Module, and made Windows think it was a new device ]

The wire terminals can 'corrode'. (It's gold plating, and gold isn't supposed to corrode. Just a term I used to explain)

The terminals on the Wireless Module can also 'corrode'.
Try using a pencil eraser on those two contact 'pins'.

The connections of the wires to Wireless Module, MUST be tight.
Can swivel if you move the wire, but not seem loose.

(That is with ALL power removed to laptop. AC adapter {Charger}, and Battery )

Still persists? Suggest new Wireless Modem Card.

My acer aspire 4720 has a Intel/PRO Wireless 2200BG (802.11b/g) Connection, which is now turned off. How do I switch it on ?

Most laptops have an external switch to turn on the wireless adapter. The ones that don't have to be turned on in the setup screen. If this adapter is on in the setup screen, then make sure that your driver is installed and that the adapter is enabled in the device manager. If this does not work then your adapter has gone bad. Of course never discount the possibility of a virus.

I am not on my compaq now, but my problem is that i cannot connect to the internet because the compaq can't seem to connect to the linksys network that all the other laptops are connected to. this happened...

This could be due to corrupt wireless drivers or corrupt BIOS settings. To isolate this, uninstall and reinstall the wireless drivers on the notebook. If issue persists, then update BIOS and check for the issue. Incase, if the issue is unresolved, then check if the Wireless network adapter is detected in Device Manager or not.

If it is not detected, then remove and reseat the wireless network card on the notebook. Incase, if the issue is unresolved, it clearly states that the wireless card on the notebook has gone bad. At this point, I would suggest you to take the notebook to any nearest Authorized Service Center in your location.

Acquiring Network Address

reset the modem and the wireless router by powering them off for 30-60 seconds, then plug power back in. Wait a minute or so for the devices to reset then go to the PC and try to connect again

Good luck
