The DVD will not stop spinning. The door will not open either. When I took the cover of the players and plugged it in, the DVD just keeps spinning even when I hit STOP, OPEN, and turn the player OFF. The only way it stops spinning is when I unplug it. TIA
The first time, I unplugged the unit for about a minute, plugged it back in and pressed the Open button. The disc was ejected and ran fine for about a week.
Then it happened again, but the unplugging didn't fix it this time.
Try this;
Unplug the unit and let it sit for a few mins to let the disc stop spinning. Then gently pull down on the DVD door. Look at the lower left side of the DVD tray and you should see a large slot. Shine a light into the slot and you will see a dime size white gear. I used a small flat head screwdriver to spin the gear to the right. After 2 small turns, the DVD tray opened enough so that I could pull it gently open. I took the DVD out, gently pushed the DVD tray back in and set the DVD player on my workbench to tinker with on a rainy day. Not sure what the root cause is, but I'll worry about that later!

I have two dvd players hooked up separately to different tv's - a Samsung D5500 and a Sony DVPNS45P - neither of which read any discs at all. They each worked previously - ???? Have read the manuals, am mystified - threw in a VHS into th Samsung just for kicks and it doesn't play either...is this just planned obsolesence?
