I get the E04 code, but my fan on my Mimimax NT 400 is running fine. Start-up sequence seems fine. Heat LED comes on, a tiny squeak sounds like the gas valve opening, LED goes out after about 5 seconds, and there is no ignition. Fan keeps going strong through this process until heater eventually shuts down and displays error code.
Checking at night, there is no glow at the burners to indicate that ignitor functions. There are to probes that extend into the firebox area. One over burner 3 with two wires (counting left to right) and one over burner 4 with one wire. Which is the sensor, and which is the ignitor? Thanks!
The HSI (ignitor) has 2 wires, its like a cigeratte lighter, power is applied and it heats then glows red, the single wire you mention is the flame sensor, used by the control board (igntion module) to ensure the burner has lit or it shuts the power to the gas valve off but keeps the fan operating for a period of 1 hour till it resets.
It sounds like your ignitor is defective, it happens often, depending on your location, you may be able to purchase one, but I would advise having a service tech do it.

I have a Purex Triton MiniMax 400 that is cycling on and off when the water temp reaches ~84 degrees. Troubleshooting I have done so far is: Cleaned the skimmer and pump baskets. Took the skins off the heater and cleaned it out with a brush and vacuum. Flame is blue Replaced the 3/4" line on the gas meter with 1-1/2" to increase the volume With the rocker switch set to Spa and the water valves set to Spa in and out the water heater heats the water up to around 84 degrees. It then turns off (power light is the only light on) for about 15 seconds and then it comes back on for about 45-50 seconds. Set the rocker switch to Pool so it would test the other thermostat and I had the same results When the cycling was taking place I rotated the water valve to pull cold water from the pool and pump it into the spa. The heater stopped cycling and the cold water begun to heat. With all this it appears to me to be a bad High Limit Thermal Switch. For testing can I bypass the two High limit switches by jumpering the two red wires together.

Startup cycle goes fine. All lights(power, pressure, thermostat, and heater) sequence correctly. After ignition, heater fires up(seen through viewing window) but then blows out 15 seconds later when fan starts to run. After several cycles, error message E05 displayed but process will repeat itself over and over again without resetting power switch. This is the third problem I've had with this heater in the past 14 months. Heater is only 2 1/2 years old. The control unit was replaced twice in the past year. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
