Problem for Voyetra Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 Headset
Turtle Beach X3 Microphone issue

I just got a pair of Turtle Beach X3's from a guy on the internet, who said they work fine. The audio is fine, however my xbox doesn't recognize the headphones as a mic. When I plug the cord into the headset, I can hear myself talk, but only when the cord is about 3/4 of the way in. If I put it in all the way then I cannot hear myself, and the microphone symbol on my xbox next to my gamertag doesn't show up. When the cord is about 3/4 of the way in, the mic symbol appears but quickly disappears. I can solder or anything if I need to. Help?

- I used the plug/wire that came with it. I did order a new one though.Solution #1

It sounds like the plug and the jack are incompatible.
Check to see that both are what's called TRS connections, i.e., Tip/Ring/Sleeve.
TRS plugs & jacks provide two separate circuits (in this case, one for mic, one for phones).
TRS jacks/plugs are also called "stereo jacks".
