Before switching the computer be sure to have the DHCP server running on your 2wire router. You are gonna see it in the configuration page.
Then be sure to put any computer connected to the router, in automatic configuration, so it gonna get the IP, the DNS and gateway automatically.
Be sure too have a valid range of IPs on the DHC server, better a private network, 10.XXX.XXX.XX or 192.168.XXX.XXX.

Could it be that your Ethernet card is configure to Static IP, rather than receiving an automatic IP from the router.
