Re: copyright protection problem

A different monitor corrected the problem?
That is strange.
How are you trying to play the video? What program are you using?
Are you trying to copy it?
Have you tried updating drivers?

I would like to know the answers that you get for this. Never heard of this before. E-mail me when you get it corrected. This way I can help other people in the future with this problem.

Asus repair

Borrow a bootable Windows 8 DVD from a friend. You do not need his/her Product-key numbers so maybe ask for a burned copy.
Boot the DVD and Windows 8 advanced repair should be able to repair.

I would say that windows is missing the codecs to play your cd. You can get the codecs by running windows update by right clicking on computer and then properties. and then click on the windows update and click get updates now.

An easier solution would be to download vlc player. It will play any file and cd or dvd. just google for vlc media player and download it and open the cd with VLC

I can't play a dvd on my computer?

if you burn this dvd by yourself then there must be problem with the X speed of your DVD ROM drive. Most of DVD rom drives does not play dvds scratched and old dvds.Lens of your dvd rom may be faulty. If DVD is new and its condition is better then there must be problem in your PC.Proper dvd player is not installed in your pc.I would recommend KM player or K-lite media codec pack. You can easily get them on google or at

I put this system in my truck and the dvd player wont work on it

Please try to download the codecs and also try with the un-installing the DVD drive from the device manager.

Codecs weblink :

Copy and paste this web link in the address bar.

Locate " Download [ K-Lite Codec Pack 5.6.1 FULL ] " from the list and click on it to start downloading the codecs. Once the download is complete, please double click on the downloaded file to install.

To uninstall and re-install the CD/DVD drive, please follow the below steps :

For Windows XP :

Click start >> Run >> type devmgmt.msc in the text field and click OK.

This will open the device manager window.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 :

Click Start >> type devmgmt.msc in the start search field and hit enter key on the keyboard.

This will open the device manager window.

You will see a list of devices in the device manager window.

Click on + sign beside the CD/DVD ROM listed there. This will open the name of the device listed there. Right click on the device name listed there and click uninstall from the dropdown list.

This will disappear the device name from there.

To re-install the CD/DVD ROM drive :

Click on Action tab from the top of device manager window. Click Scsn for hardware changes from there.

This will re-install the CD/DVD drive in the device manager.

Try playing DVD's and check for the issue.....

Compaq 7600 will not play, burn, cds or dvds

it seems more problem of dvd rom than a update. try to clean the lense with wet tissue. first try to boot your system with bootable cd/dvd. if it booted it means the software gone corrupt otherwise cd gone bad.
