A different monitor corrected the problem?
That is strange.
How are you trying to play the video? What program are you using?
Are you trying to copy it?
Have you tried updating drivers?

I would like to know the answers that you get for this. Never heard of this before. E-mail me when you get it corrected. This way I can help other people in the future with this problem.

Ok! i need help with my dvd player. I put on a movie to watch and the only thing i get is a wierd sound that it always makes and a small window comes up and says: Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD...

Check to see if unit works with other disks. If it works fine then it is definitely a software issue that is preventing playback of your disk.

Install VLC freeware and see if that plays it back.

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.

Hello, it's possible that your CD/DVD drive is beginning to fail. Go to your computers manufacturer website and download the latest drivers for this category, the other solution is to download the latest video card drivers as well this should solve your problem.

Want play my dvd says theres a problem with digital copy protection between my dvd drive, decoder, and video card

I had the same problem for about 2 weeks until this morning.
Last week I restored the system to a couple of months back.
After a week of auto-installed updates, xp has fixed itself!
I couldn't tell you what the fixes were, there's no record on update manager.
I hope this helps.

Decoder want let dvd play

The software technology used to decoded the format used by DVD's is owned, and has to be purchased in order to decode and playback the content. Hardware manufactures already have paid for this license for your "on-the-shelf-dvd player". You have another option... to download a DVD Player that includes a pre-licensed decoder.

Download this codec pack... http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

Then, open the program called "Media Player Classic" that the mentioned codec pack will install.

I know this probably doesn't qualify as a 'solution', but try using VLC to play your DVDs instead of Media Player. From what I understand, Media Player has a whole host of issues with DVD playback.

VLC is free and can be downloaded from here:

Hope this helps!
