Question about Operating Systems

1 Answer

I have three programs in my Startup folder, but they won't load automatically. I can go to that folder and click on them and load them, so it's not a bad link. I'm running a Compac DT6000 that I've only had about six weeks.

Any ideas?

Hello you must name all the three problems first. Ok, Remember all those and Delete all the entries from that startup folder. open registry editor by typing regedit in the Run box from start menu. Then go to the section [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
Create a String value rename it to the program of your choice, open that string value and and give the address/path of that program and press OK button. do this for all the 3 program you stated one by one.

Can't remove software from vista and uninstaller won't work I ask question and you responded with try uninstaller. It won't work either, It's an HP C6180 all in one can you help me?

I have had some programs that never uninstall either.
Make sure it's not running.
Check "Task Manager" to see if its running.
Also check in your "startup folder in "progrems"...if it's there take it out.
To do thet ...rite click on the big start button in the lower left corner of screen.
...then click "explore"....look for "programs'....then "startup"

Disabling Unnecessary Programs At Startup:

Many programs add portions of themselves starting automatically on every login. This can be either in the Startup Folder or the Registry. One easy way to tell is by looking at how many icons are in your system tray. If you have a large number, perhaps unnecessary resources are being allocated them as well as increasing your boot time. Typical examples are Microsoft Office, Office FindFast, Real Player, ATI Video setting etc. You can remove them in one of three main ways:

In the Start / Programs / Startup Folder
In the Registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run

How can i set up a programme to automatically run when i switch on my computer

Put an icon for the program onto your Windows Desktop.

Then use the mouse to "drag" that icon into the 'Startup' folder (click "Start", then "All Programs", to see that you have a 'Startup' folder).

How can i make exe as a windows service without programming

There are some solutions for your problem, everything has
positive and negative side. (Pro and contra)

1. Startup folder
Put your exe or bat file to the startup folder. The Windows will start automatically when the Windows is starting. You put the exe to the desktop, then copy to Start/Program/Startup folder.

Positive: Quickest setup
Negative: To stop your program, you have to start the taskmanager. (taskmgr) You have to start taskmanager if you want to check the status of your exe.

2. Make a Windows service
Serveral ways can do it. The Windows resource kit contains
two utilities with this programs you can do it.

Zone Alarm will not start up when I turn on my computer?

You can ADD the "Zone alarm" executable to your windows startup.
This can be done in 1 simple way.

1. Locate the "Zonealarm.exe" in your "Program files" folder. Usually your Program Files folder will be here "C:\Program Files". Just run a search for "Zonealarm.exe" inside this folder.

2. After locating the "Zonealarm.exe" file, right-click on that file. And select "Create Shortcut".

3. After that you'll find a "Zonealarm.exe" Shortcut file or icon inside the same folder.

4. Just COPY or CUT the shortcut file.

5. Now Right click on the "START" button.

6. Select "Open all users".

7. This will open a windows explorer window. Locate "Programs" folder and Enter it.

8. Inside you should locate "Startup" folder and enter it.

9. Once u ar inside the "Startup" folder, paste the already copied "Zonealarm.exe" shortcut file.

10. That's it. Now try re-starting the system.

Delete RECYCLER folder

Right click the recycle bin in 'my computer' or on the desktop and goto the properties. You may then configure the recycle bin for each drive or turn it off altogether. Once it is turned off for a particular drive you may remove the recycler folder (ignore the warning) it will not re-appear again when you delete files.
