I have aquired a dish dvr, i do not have the dish servicem however. I want to know if i can still record a program and watch it later. Thank you

It is highly unlikely. The unit unlikely has any inputs other than the coax cable coming from the satellite dish. This will is the same 75 ohm cable connection you see on your tv used with antennas or cable service, but the tuner in the satellite box only decodes satellite signals.

Sorry about your luck. I recall some manufactures such as LG making DVD recorders with hard drives inside them. Those units can capture any analog signal. Another idea is to get a TV tuner card for your computer.

Tv has no signal

The TV you are trying to connect to may be an older type and not a DIGITAL receiver. The old ANALOG type no longer work with the Digital applications unless to have a CONVERTER BOX.

I have a Philips TV, model HD2717 C101. All channels do not display--Why? It skips quite a few channels on scan, the only to get them is to actually select the channel individually.

Hi are you running it off of an antenna or cable?
Assuming you have a digital tuner and are selecting the proper type of channel search Ie: cable or air it could be that the tv needs a firmware update to the tuner.

I have experienced similar issues with several TV's I had an Olevia 37" HDTV that required a firmware update to get the tuner to properly decode channels.

I also have seen lots of cases were people have cable hooked up without a cable box and receive "mixed" channels.

I currently have Comcast and have 6 TV's hooked up 3 with cable boxes and 3 directly off the line. According to Comcast I should not be getting anything besides "basic" channels without a box but using the digital tuner in the TV's does pickup most of the channels and even some HD channels that are not there using their boxes.

Interestingly enough none of the TV's tuners decode the channels into the same "channel." As an example HGTV on 1 TV shows up as 84.4 but then 86.1 on the second and something like 84.11 on the third.

My recommendation run the auto program again then go through channel by channel and see if anything needs to be manually entered or deleted. I know this is a pain in the **** and takes about 20 minutes per TV but hopefully that will tell you if your TV tuner is relocating the channels to another channel.

Lastly if your tuner is not digital or if the tuner can't be updated you may have to use a secondary tuner such as one in a VCR to get the channels you desire.

This whole Digital Conversion that we have undergone has brought to light for me at least that our government and corporations don't care about the real world impact on the ordinary person.

Sure they made money on reallocating bandwidth and sure tons of new HDTV's and digital products (including digital cable) have been sold but I haven't come across anyone who feels they have benefited from the conversion forced upon us.

Hope this helps sorry about my rant.

How can I set my TV as analog or digital?

It should be done in the settings on the TV itself through the menu options and through the connections on the back. Whatever input you hook up as your source input on the back, the menu set up through the TV menu should correspond to whatever method you chose as your source, whether it be analog or digital. I hope this helps.

8 11 & 14 are std definition. All digital channels are 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. You may need to re-align your antenna. Digital is Very Very direct, analog was very scattered. Hope this helps
