My H700 works great when there is a quite background, as did the Samsung device it replaces. When there is any background noise, my voice is amplified and gets very distorted to the point where the person I am talking to can not understand me. Anybody know if this is normal or do I have a defective unit?

You cannot remove the background noise of already recorded material unless you have special software for that purpose. It is available, but costly. To eliminate some background noise, you may in the future, try to muffle the microphone by turning down the volume and recording by moving the device closer to the sound sources. Some folks put a wind sock over the recorder, as you may have noticed during TV News recordings on street events or at a studio. Try a wool or thick sock over the recorder and see if that helps.
no problem with..record some part of the start with no voice just a 5-10 seconds remain quite...just kept running the recording...then start and record your voice after which install AudaCITY Software and drag your audio file in it and then select the first 5-19 seconds recording which was just the background kept recording selecting the part go to Effects -> Noise Removal then press Get Profile,
after which again select all the track by: Control + A key on PC and then go to Effects Noise Removal move the bar to the left side...and press ok/continue key....now your track is very much clean by the noise...and
for sound loudness select all the track and go to Effects -> Normalize then again Effects -> Amplify put the slider value to -0.1 of what the value is shown.
On mine, if I wait for it to be fully connected with the phone, then press the button one time, the blackberry ask for the correct voice command. However, if I press the button twice, it will dial the last number called.
Ok here is the answer. There H700 have a small foam windscreen inside over the microphone that over time block the sound. The answer is to carefully open the unit and remove the obstruction and clean residue from the microphone and it will work like new. here is a link to pictures and instructions. http://www.geocities.com/jconkwright/H700fix.html
Does your Treo 700W support "voice dialing"? I searched the whole user guide for the Treo 700W and it does not say anything about dialing by voice. If the phone does not support it than no matter what Blue Tooth unit you use you will not be able to voice dial.
Use a med/thin guitar pick and slip it under the edge of the casings and run it around the perimeter to snap open the casing locks. This method works for all snap together devices, and I have not found a better way yet!! Good luck. A FixYa rating would be great for this bit of knowhow..
The pic looks like a TRC5880? If thats the case they are naturally quite noisey. The motors vibrate too much in my opinion. Theres not much you can do with it unfortunately. Suggest a new recorder or get that one repaired.
