If you have checked the stator, rotor and brushes and they appear alright then it is probably a voltage regulator. The honda dealer can run a test and confirm the problem at very little expense. It cost me 25 dollars Canadian to preform the test and it was well worth the money because you cannot return electrical parts and they can be very expensive. Have a great day! [email protected]

check oil level if filter has not been change it. If there is a generator problem it will self shut down to keep you from causing more problems . Check on off switch has plug on it unplug try to start ,if starts motor not problem, have generator checked. running it with switch unpluged will cause major problems. burnt computer board on my 5500 voltage problem. It was cheaper to buy new one.
How long have you had this generator? Has the generator worked on all of these loads before? Model 5500 is a 5500 Watt generator which could easily be 5500 watts (Peak) and not continuous.
Your AC is an inductive load. Your lights are resistive loads
An inductive load can cause issues when starting due to an increased current demand at start up that some generators cringe under. Do the lights flicker or are they stable? I'd say your diodes on your stator are working if you have light stability but you haven't provided nearly enough information for a detailed solution.
I'm sure you have enough voltage but you aren't getting enough current to run specific loads. How many watts is your AC? How many watts for your microwave? Both of these units demand a great deal of energy to run and when you place too much demand on your generator, it will choke it out and eventually, will cause damage to the generator. You may consider getting a beefier generator with a greater amount of wattage output.
Seeing these specs online and noting what you are trying to run, you have an undersized generator and need to get one that can produce a greater amount of running wattage (as well as peak wattage).
Rob When was the last time this generator was run, allot of times they lose their magnetism from sitting so long? Also you may want to check your voltage regulator to make sure it is putting out the correct voltage..
In what position is the switch under the voltmeter and does it read some voltage, may be very low? Is the main switch in run position? Is there a charged battery connected to it?
At the controller, you need to see if it is actually sending electricity out of the Generator/Alternator, have a look where the leads from the power making unit mates, (Think of it as a motor in reverse) onto the board. There should be an AC Voltage there, then, work back, or out from there, trace the Voltage until it stops, thats the problem... Check the Breaker isn't tripped or faulty too.
wire a 120v 15a to 9vdc or 12vdc battery make sure you have no voltage out of the 240 side. with the unit running plug into the 120v receptacl QUICKLY pull out. check power out put. if it did'nt work check your battery, than do it again twice as long. you must check all component before doing this to make sure you don't have any other fail-er. this is danger-us be careful. good luck
If the fuel filter is good and lines are good then it sounds like the fuel is making its way to the carb built trash is stopping the fuel from getting into the engine in order to run. Clean out the carb bowl and clean out the valve stem. I know on the Honda unit the valve stem is removed with the carb bowl then then with a striaght screw driver you can remove the Body once you drop the bowl down with the stem so to clean out the cyclinderical body. Good luck
