That bugs me to no end. Call GE back, and ask for that person's manager. If they give you no joy, ask for the next person in the chain of command, until you get it replaced. Microwaves don't just explode. They should make it right. Most larger companies like GE have a consumer advocate. Ask for one of these. They can "cut out the middlemen" and get action on this issue.

I have sparking from the waveguide cover of my two-year-old GE convection oven/microwave model JES1290ML01. I called the GE Answer Center at 1-800-626-2005, obtained a case number, and was transferred to Consumer Relations. After a five-minute wait on hold and some persistence with the operator, the operator determined that my microwave is eligible for a no-cost diagnostic visit by a local technician, apparently because the oven cost more than $200. We'll see if there are any repair costs.
