Re: window does not start

This file is found on the operating system disk, if you do not have the factory or microsoft system disk, you will need to purchase one and reinstall from it. once you get a disk, after booting off it run the repair option and run chkdisk /r this will repair all system files. if the new disk will not allow you to do a repair you will have to run the install feature. If this is a recent problem, most problems can be fixed by setting the computer back to an earlier time. Go to control panel. Click on system and security. Next under action center, click on restore your computer to an earlier time. Now click on open system restore. Click yes and then click on next. Place a check mark in the box for more restore points. Click on a date when you are sure that the computer was working fine with no problems. Click on next. Click on finish. Wait 15 minutes for your computer to reset itself to an earlier time. Do not try to perform any other operations during this wait time. The computer will shut down and restart itself automatically. When finished, try to do what you were trying to do again and see if it now works properly. This will also get rid of any recent computer viruses too.

In device manager look for your DVD writer and uninstall it, then reinstall. If it isn't showing up go up to "start / right click on computer/ properties/advanced system settings, click on advanced tab then Environmental Variables. Under user variables for (your username) click new. For variable name enter: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
For variable value enter 1
Then hit okay
Close all windows bad go back into device manager, under view click show hidden devices.
If you see a yellow icon over the device it is installed but not working properly. Uninstall and reinstall. This should cure your problem. It may require a restart.

My computer will only go as far as the password, then (explorer.exe - unable to locate... ) this application has failed to start because BROWSEUI.dll was not found, Re-installing the application may...

try hitting control>shift>escape at the same time to bring up task manager. then, go to the task manager "file" tab, and select "run" type in "explorer" and hit enter. if windows does not open, then you will have to reinstall explorer.exe in your windows folder.

find a computer with the same version of windows as your own, and hook up your hard drive as an external or secondary drive in that machine. copy the file "explorer.exe" from the windows folder on that computer to the windows folder of your laptop drive.

if that doesnt wortk, you will have to find some sort of registry repair utility that can be booted, i.e. ran without windows. or, perhqaps, you have blocked yourself out of the windows folder with permissions or group policy...

youll prolly have to reinstall windows in the end, cause explorer.exe doesnt usually disapear unless there are other problems

browser.dll can also be reinstalled, it basically is just needed for internet explorer.

My laptop fail to boot from my hard disk. it stops and say media test failure and operating system not found what shall i do?

It seems you have a operating system crash, you most probably need to reinstall windows and before you do that check if you are able to go to bios to see if everything else on the hardware side is working properly.I hope this helps.Try ubuntu 9.04 if you don't have a windows cd.It's free and a big competitor of windows.

Try starting the computer into safe mode by following the instructions found here.
