Hi, The files in temp folder can be safely deleted and have nothing to do with touch pad atleast. Something else might have gone wrong. Just check from the Device Manager or Control Pannel that the drivers for touch pad are installed. If so, check for the scroll option (synaptics touch pad utility) and set it accordingly. If it doesn't work, you may download and reinstall the touch pad drivers again from the manufacturers support site.
check to see that you have not locked the scroll pad. either button next to pad or a func+key will activate it. in some cases you have a a spyware virus stopping it.
Next time you try scrolling on the touch pad, also push down (really) hard on the touch pad(kind of like you're squeezing the player). Keep doing this, and you may get it working. I've dropped mine a few times, and this push/squeeze/scroll seemed to work.
