I changed the lid switch because it was broke and now the water wont stop filling in the washer. It has to be shut of manually or it would over flow. I wondering if I hit or disconnected somethin when I took the back off.

You could have very easily disconnected something while repairing your lid switch. The most common cause of a washer that will not stop filling is a disconnected air hose on the pressure switch. The pressure switch is located inside the operator console behind the load level selector knob. There is a small plastic air hose attached to it that senses pressure from the wash tub as the water rises. This difference in pressure is what determines when the pressure switch shuts off. Without the air hose attached, the pressure switch will not shut off. The following link explains:

Since you had to remove your operator console while replacing the lid switch, I would begin there. Read through the link provided and let me know if you have nay questions. I hope this helps you solve your problem.

Something in the water level switch. It is a diaphragm like device with a small plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As water level increases so does the pressure on the air in the tube and when it reaches a certain level it activates the switch to turn off the water and signals the timer to start appropriate cycle. See if you damaged the tube when working and the switch can be tested for continuity using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Hope this helped and best wishes.

My washer has filled up with water and then just stopped and wont begin the cycle...

Try manually advancing timer . If washer starts , timer motor is bad or gets stuck , or water level switch is bad and not sending power to timer.

If washer doesn't start ,the lid switch is stuck not sending power to timer or god forbid, timer is shot.

In some models , lid switch controls everything which may be your problem .Try manually operating lid switch or jumping it with jumper wire.Or just replacing. Its' the easiest to fix and most likely problem.

Good luck

The washer turns on and fills up but then stops. If you bang the lid a few times it will usually continue on the cycle and be fine. You have to repeat the lid banging for every load though. The lid...

Sounds like the switch that the lid presses is either broken or has been knocked loose.

Or the little plastic or metal "switch actuator" (the little poker) that presses the switch has broken.

I believe the washer thinks the lid is open because it will fill up but wont't wash until it knows the lid is shut.

My whirlpool thin twin filled with water and stopped!:(

Well if it fills then it needs the lid shut to work. So if the lid is shut it hits a lidswitch and if that lid switch is broken then nothing will work washer wise right? As far as the dryer that may be a blown fuse but nothing on the washer could stop it from running cept maybe a bad cord or breaker.
