5E problem sir i have a problem in my cannon MP160 inkjet printer.led of the alarm and color ink is flashing and in display 5 and E is flashing continueously. printer is talking no command directly or by the computer.please tell me hat to do???

E5-5 = The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed, or the ink cartridges are not installed properly.

1. try to take out colour ink and then put in again to see ok or no

2.try to install new cartridge to see ok or no

3.if this all can't is better you send you printer to authorized canon to check you printer is print head problem or no....

How to install ink cartridge

Dear Sir,

Plz folow This step to solve your problem,

  1. Step 1 Open the printer cover and prop it up with the support brace located on the right-hand side of the cover. It's similar to the way a car hood is propped open.
  2. Step 2 Remove the black FINE ink cartridge from its container and locate the protective tape. Gently remove the protective tape used to cover the print head nozzles and electrical contacts.
  3. Step 3 Insert the black FINE ink cartridge into the printer slot labeled "B." It will rest on a slight angle. Push the cartridge up and back until it clicks into place.
  4. Step 4 Repeat the process for the color FINE ink cartridge, placing it in the slot labeled "C."
  5. Step 5 Raise the printer cover slightly to loosen the support brace. Fold the brace inward and replace the cover to its closed position.
  6. Step 6 A green LED light will flash on top of the printer. In about a minute, the LED stops flashing and displays "1." Once the "1" appears, you're ready to print.

Alarm light only on only on cannon MP160 (not Blinking)

Ok this may do the trick, can only try.Also if you are using the Refillable ink cartilages stop they always cause major issues

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the
function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
orange and green, starting with orange.)Note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset.

5) Turn off the printer.(it must be turn off)
then turn it on again.

Hello! I am having trouble with my printer(Pixma,mp160)The printer will no print. The light display flashing "E". I am trying to print in black and white, but the printer light stays on color ink setting....

After E display flashing one or two numbers.If number is 5 one or both print cartridge is failed.Replace first color, if not help replace and black.
If is other number check this error in this site.

E5 is "The ink cartridges is not install or a non supported ink"
Probably one from your cartridges is defective.Replace the cartridges.

try this PRESS STOP BUTTON FOR 5 SEC CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM

after that will adicated light alarm blinking them you can print if can't try turn off printer and turn on again.

Printer

The alarm lamp will flash for an error or for no paper or for low or no ink. The most likely problem is that you changed ink cartridges recently and left the little plastic inner cover open.
Open the paper tray at the bottom and look insideif you see a little plastic door open push it closed. If this is not the problem call Cannon at 1-800-828-4040.
