Problem for Nikon Coolpix S50 Digital Camera

Coolpix S52 says memory card is write protected but it isn't

I assumed the memory card was faulty because I get the write protected message with the side switch in either position on the memory card. I purchased a new memory card and get the exact same message. It appears to be the camera not the memory card. Since the camera thinks the card is write protected I can not get to the format option either.

Make sure that you are not using a card too big in memory size. Some cameras are not compatible with HCSD or 2gb or larger.
