My hp vs19e monitor has dark screen and blinking power button.

My monitor powers on with a dark screen for first two minutes then comes on with no problem. when left off for more than 5 hrs. It repeats the same problem. the problem has esculated with screen remaining black for the first 2 to 4 hrs. of being turned on before showing. I was told by a monitor repairman that the problem is with the power module and it can be repaired with a estimate of 156.00.

Could be the power module or the backlights (more likely backlights if the "luminance" varies)- $156 sounds a little high but not insane, but you realize cost of replacement is lower, do you not?

i repair one and i'm totally novice in electronic ... look if some condensators are inflated and try to change it ... it is not very complicated with a little soldering iron ... i repair 2 monitor like that without testing anything it is often condensators i think (u can find some in old motherboard card) .... if it doesn't run ... matter is more important and you probably win time to change your monitor ... good luck ;-)

I have hp6735s dark screen problem even with external monitor

Try removing the battery and see if it starts. If the battery is dead, the laptop will be unresponsive as you described. If this doesn' work, then switch out the power adaptor. You can find these on eBay for less than twenty dollars. Your laptop is not getting adequate power to boot up.

Haven't run into this particular problem, but many have been able to fix their monitors that won't come on with my tutorial. See the link below:

Screen goes black to grey

LCD circa 2004 (old)
what is your question,
1: is it bad, sure it,is, if it fails on 2 PCs, and cable is ok.
2: if it fails its own OSD tests its bad.
of has OSD lock the free manual tells you how to UNLOCK this feature. (the hold button trick)

3: how to fix it.? asking how to fix a LCD here?

the parts for it , inside might be found on ebay, this old.
pigs in a poke sack....
there is no schematic for it, google it ?

black to gray is my only clue here.
if the OSD is dead the black lamp is bad, or its inverter
if the back lamp is ok, then the LCD power is bad or it's logic bad or lack of power. (DC rails)

Same here- I understand that the capacitors are bad and need to be replaced. I am going to undertake it myself. Radio Shack sells them.

I want to replace the power switch board on my hp vs19e monitor.

About your only hope for getting a replacement switch is to buy a "Parts Only" monitor off of EBay and carefully remove the switch. This one is tricky it's attached to the front bezel as you've likely found out. When you disassemble the monitor, lay it face down and remove the bac plastic then remove the 4 screws holding the button board on then take the rest apart. That's the safest way.
