Vcr cuts my tv off after i put the tape in

The VCR is not turning the TV power off. The tape is not playing. I'd guess maybe it needs a cleaning or a replacment.

When I try to record a VHS tape or play one it continually ejects the tape as soon as TV is turned on.

Try turning the TV on first and then inserting the tape into the VCR. You may be getting a small voltage spike that is causing your VCR to eject the tape.

Auto turn off

You most likely have a bad LED sensor in your video tape deck. When the LED fails, the VCR thinks it has a tape in it and trys to load it. When this happens , the deck jams and shuts the whole system down. Stargazer

My Tv is turning off by itself

if all you want to do is disable the vcr portion turn the set on , install a blank vhs tape it has to be blank or the vcr will try to read it .and the tv and dvd should work fine. this is a timing problem in the vcr deck its not hard to fix but it is a pain.
