Take dvd/vcr combo aparts.Turn on the power to the machine, one hand move around the inter eject vcr port for those sensors, the other hand just keep pushing the eject button, keep doing this until the tape eject and come out.
Try turning the TV on first and then inserting the tape into the VCR. You may be getting a small voltage spike that is causing your VCR to eject the tape.
You most likely have a bad LED sensor in your video tape deck. When the LED fails, the VCR thinks it has a tape in it and trys to load it.
When this happens , the deck jams and shuts the whole system down.

if all you want to do is disable the vcr portion turn the set on , install a blank vhs tape it has to be blank or the vcr will try to read it .and the tv and dvd should work fine. this is a timing problem in the vcr deck its not hard to fix but it is a pain.
