Changing the power level

I have tried to change the power level to 50% on my microwave, but when I push the button it gives me a message that says "power level may not be changed at this time." What should I do?

Re: Changing the power level

I had the same problem. All you need to do is put in your cook time first, then adjust the power level. So time cook, whatever # of minutes, power level, then # power level. Hope this helps.

Re: Changing the power level

Your best bet is to first try a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Otherwise, I would suggest you consult the owner's manual. If you don't have yours, you can download it here:

How do I set the power at 50%?

After first setting the cook time---then hit the power level button and hit the number 5 (for 50%) and then start. Power level can also be changed while running by hitting power level button and selecting 1 through 10. For example level 3 is 30% for defrosting.

Hamilton beach microwave change power level hp-p100n30al-s3 how do I do that? I pushed the power level button and only beeps does nothing to it

Hit power level button then number 1 through 10. Most have 10 power levels. 1 is extremely low. 3 is usually defrost, 5 would be half power and so on.

Power level change

You may have to enter a value with the number keys.
A 5 might give you 50% power or you might have to enter 50.
It all depends on the manufacturer's program. I'm not familiar with this model.

Unable to adjust power level, the power level button on the control panel does not respond.

Try pressing and adjusting the power level before setting the cook time, or maybe before pressing start. Worked on my Panasonic

The beeping sound when something is done can not be heard. Anything I can do to fix?

Does your microwave have a keypad labeled Beeper Volume? If it does, try changing the level by pressing the button and then pressing 1-5 (0 is mute, 5 is the loudest).

If the button is not present or changing the audio level to 5 doesn't help, the problem is the speaker or the wiring for it. I believe the speaker is on the control panel and is not sold separately. Go to and enter the model number. This will give you the parts diagrams and price lists.
Most GE appliance manuals are available from GE: and enter the model and click Submit.

I hope this helps.

How to set microwave 50%

You have to put the cook time in first and then you press the power level button (just below the number 7 on the keypad) and put the power level in. The choices are 1 through 10. Fifty percent is probably power level 5. Once you have put in the power level, just push the Start button and it will start cooking.

When I try to change the power level on my Magic Chef microwave, it only lets you put in one digit. How do you make sure its on 100% or 50%?

The oven always starts at 100% power. When you enter a power level from 1 to 9, the control board reads it as 10 to 90% of full power. So power level 5 is 50%, 3 is 30% and so on.

After setting the time amount before you hit the start button, push the power button with each push it should indicate a different power level if not you've got to use the keypad, for example, 50 is 50% power etc.

Is it like someone is pushing the Power or Power Level pad?

If so, I would say your keypad is failing with a shorted Power (or Power Level) pad.
