It appeares my system has had an overload from exccesive volume my (kids) and it turns itself off continuosly severeal seconds after turning it on how can it be reset?

Try disconnecting the speakers, I think the speaker may have a short thats why it is doing that. If it does it with the speakers disconnected then the amp inside is no good.
