MTD Yard Machine 7-speed riding tractor/mower will not start after nopt being used for over 6 months. Re-charged battery and turns over great; filled with gas and pulled hose to make sure flow is at intake to carb. I suspect the ''kill switch'' that controls gas to the engine is not opening since I can squirt gas directly into the carb and it will start and run for as long as I keep squirting fuel. I have tried checking the seat switch... Troubleshooting indicates there is always 12 volts at the pints to the shut-off connector. Any advice?

Anytime you can run one while spraying gas into it is one of two things,, if you have a fuel pump on it check and see gas come out of that,,, if so you need to clean out carb. or rebuilt it,, hope this help you,, good luck

I have a riding yard machine. It does not seem to

Sounds like the alternator under neath the flywheel has gone bad. This could happen from jumping the mower of a vehicle still running. The alternator on the vehicle puts out to much power for the mower and will damage or blow the alternator on the mower.
